Use segments to classify reservations by attributes relevant to your operations (such as traveler type, whether the reservation is group or individual, etc.).

You can assign segments to travel agencies, channel managers, rates, and reservations. This allows you to gather statistical information about segments from reports (such as the Reservation Report) to identify trends, and target customers more effectively.

After you create a business segment, you can adjust your settings to:

Create a segment

  1. Go to Main menu > Settings > Services.
  2. Click on your stay service.
  3. Click Segments.
  4. Click the + button.
  5. Enter the name of the segment.
  6. Select the customer classification, if applicable.
    - Business - Guests traveling for work.
    - Leisure - Guests traveling for recreation.
    - Student - Student travelers.
  7. Select the pricing classification, if applicable.
    - Group - Discounted rate for a group.
    - Negotiated - Agreed-upon rate with a travel agency or company.
    - Transient - Rate for last-minute, walk-in, or short-term bookings.
  8. Click Create.

Note: If you have automatic city tax turned on, the segment classification can affect how city tax is applied. For example, if your legal environment specifies that only guests traveling for leisure should be charged city tax, the city tax will automatically be applied to all reservations that are classified as leisure.

Modify a segment

  1. Go to Main menu > Settings > Services.
  2. Click on your stay service.
  3. Click Segments.
  4. Click on the business segment you want to update.
  5. Update the segment name and/or classification.
  6. Click Save.

Delete a segment

If you delete a segment, it won't be removed from any of the reservations it was previously assigned to.

  1. Go to Main menu > Settings > Services.
  2. Click on your stay service.
  3. Click Segments.
  4. Click on the business segment you want to delete.
  5. Click on the Trash icon.
  6. Confirm by clicking Delete.
