An advance booking restriction prevents a reservation from being made at your property unless it is made a certain number of days in advance. The restriction can apply to:

  • Rates (all rates or specific rates)
  • Rate groups
  • Space categories
  • Space types

You can choose to restrict by arrival, departure, or stay when creating an advance booking restriction:

  • For Arrival, any reservation that starts during the restricted period must be made a certain number of days in advance.
  • For Departure, any reservation that ends during the restricted period must be made a certain number of days in advance.
  • For Stay, any reservation with nights during the restricted period must be made a certain number of days in advance.

Create a minimum advance booking restriction

When a minimum advance booking restriction is in place, a reservation that falls within the restricted period can only be made if the number of days before arrival meets or exceeds the minimum advance.

  1. Go to Main menu > Settings > Services.
  2. Click on your stay service.
  3. From the Settings menu, click Restrictions.
  4. Click the + button.
  5. Under the Type field, choose to restrict by either arrival, departure, or stay.
  6. Enter the start and end date of the restriction. The restriction applies to both the start and end date, as well as all dates in between. If you want to create a restriction for one day, you must enter the same date for the start and end.
  7. Select the rate, rate group, space category, and/or space type that you want the restriction to apply to. See our reference article for an in-depth explanation of fields on this screen. If you do not select an option, the restriction will apply to all. For example, if you don't select a rate, the restriction will apply to all of your rates.
  8. Under Minimum advance, enter the minimum number of days in advance that a reservation can be made before arrival.
  9. Click Create.

Create a maximum advance booking restriction

When a maximum advance booking restriction is in place, a reservation that falls within the restricted period can only be made if the number of days before arrival is less than or equal to the maximum advance.

  1. Go to Main menu > Settings > Services.
  2. Click on your stay service.
  3. From the Settings menu, click Restrictions.
  4. Click the + button.
  5. Under the Type field, choose to restrict by either arrival, departure, or stay.
  6. Enter the start and end date of the restriction. The restriction applies to both the start and end date, as well as all dates in between. If you want to create a restriction for one day, you must enter the same date for the start and end.
  7. Select the rate, rate group, space category, and/or space type that you want the restriction to apply to. See our reference article for an in-depth explanation of fields on this screen. If you do not select an option, the restriction will apply to all. For example, if you don't select a rate, the restriction will apply to all of your rates.
  8. Under Maximum advance, enter the maximum number of days in advance that a reservation can be made before arrival.
  9. Click Create.
