The Mews Connector app allows Mews Operations to connect with local devices (such as printers and key encoders), so commands can be sent directly from Mews to your devices.

Step 1: Set up your Mews Connector app token

  1. Go to Main menu > Marketplace.

  2. In the Facility management section, click Explore under the Mews Connector app integration.

  3. Click Connect.
    - When the integration has been successfully connected, click OK. You will be redirected to the My subscriptions tab.

  4. In your list of active integrations, find Mews Connector app and click Settings.

  5. In the Connected devices field, add any printers, or key cutters that you currently have set up.

  6. Click Save.

Step 2: Download and install the Mews Connector app

We recommend that you download the Mews Connector app onto the same computer or server as your local devices (for example, key cutters or printers). This computer must be:

  • A Windows PC (Vista and later supported).

  • A computer that never shuts down (when the computer shuts down, Mews Connector app stops working).

To download Mews Connector:

  1. In the Mews Connector screen, click on the download icon in the top right corner

  2. Install Mews Connector integration on your computer.

  3. If your key cutter software communicates with Mews using the FIAS protocol, complete the following fields in your FIAS settings:
    - Fias Server Port - Enter the port number of your door lock application (for Kaba Saflok, use 8265).
    - Client Mode - Enable this if you're using the Kaba Saflok key cutter integration.
    - Enabled - Select this since you're using FIAS.

How do you know if your key cutter uses FIAS? You can tell your key cutter software communicates with Mews using the FIAS protocol if, during the setup of your key cutter integration in Mews Operations, you entered { "Type": "FiasProtocol" } into the Data JSON field. Alternatively, you can find a list of our currently supported FIAS key cutters here.

Note: More advanced setup (for example, virtual server installation) is possible as long as all of your devices are connected to one network — reach out to your Account Manager for more info.
