Booking.com has direct, 2-way integration with Mews (which is free to use, regardless of your subscription tier) which:

  • Pushes reservations to Mews Commander.
  • Pulls rates, restrictions, and availability from Mews and updates them in Booking.com.
  • Downloads all future reservations when you enable the connection for the first time.
  • Allows you to connect multiple Booking.com accounts to Mews (just create a new Booking.com integration for each account).
  • Has no scheduled downtime.
  • Is twice as fast as regular channel manager connections.
  • Automatically reports invalid cards to Booking.com.

Note: After you connect to the direct Booking.com integration, you won't be able to modify rates, availability, or restrictions in the Booking.com extranet—you'll have to update them straight from Commander.

Before you start

Before you connect to the Booking.com integration, make sure you've created a travel agency for Booking.com in Commander—if you don't, the reservations you download from Booking.com won't have a travel agency attached to them.

Note: If you're already live with Mews, we won't configure whole channel manager integrations for you—we'll just handle the testing, and help you out if you have any problems.

Step 1: Connect Booking.com

Find your Booking.com Property ID

  1. Log in to your Booking.com account.
  2. Click on the name of your property (in the top-right corner).
  3. Make note of your Property ID (you'll need this later).

Create the integration in Commander

  1. Open Commander.
  2. Go to Main menu > Marketplace.
  3. In the Distribution section, find the Booking.com integration and click See more .
  4. Click Connect.
    - When the integration has been successfully connected, you'll be redirected to the My subscriptions tab.
  5. In your list of active integrations, find Booking.com and click Settings.
    - Do not enable the integration yet—it's important that you wait until all of your space categories and rates are mapped and tested.
  6. Complete the fields.
    - In the Channel manager ID field, enter your Booking.com Property ID.
  7. Click Save.

For a more in-depth explanation of the fields and options on this screen, read our guide on connecting your channel manager.

Step 2: Connect your Booking.com account with Mews

  1. Log in to your Booking.com account.
  2. Click on Account, and then select Channel manager from the drop-down menu.
    - If you already have a channel manager connected, you'll need to deactivate it.
  3. Click Connect your channel manager.
  4. Under Name of channel manager, search for "Mews", and select it from the drop-down list.
  5. Click Next, review the agreement details, and then click Accept.
    - When Mews has confirmed the connection, a message will be sent to your inbox.
  6. Go to Inbox > Booking.com Messages to find your confirmation message.
  7. Open the message and follow the link.
  8. Complete the final steps to set up the connection.

Step 3: Pull mapping from Booking.com

  1. In the Marketplace, go to My subscriptions.
  2. Find the Booking.com integration and click Settings.
  3. Under Enabled operations, select Download mappings.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Find the Options section at the bottom of the screen, and:
    - Under Action, select Pull mapping.
    - Leave From and To blank.
  6. Click Ok.

Step 4: Map space categories

  1. In the Booking.com integration settings, click Channel manager categories.
  2. Click on a Channel manager ID.
  3. Under Category, select the space category connected to that code.
  4. Select the Synchronized checkbox to send availability updates to the channel manager.
    - If a space category is unsynchronized, no updates are sent.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Repeat steps 2-4 for every space category that you want to be available in Booking.com.
    - You can double-check that your space category mapping IDs and names match in Commander and Booking.com by returning to Channel manager categories.

Step 5: Map rates

  1. In the Booking.com integration settings, click Channel manager rates.
  2. Click on a Channel manager ID.
  3. Under Rate, select the rate connected to that code.
  4. Select the Synchronized checkbox if you want the rate's pricing and restriction updates to be sent to the channel manager.
    - Unsynchronized rates don’t send pricing or restriction updates to the channel manager, but can still receive reservations. (Note: Unsynchronized rates need to be updated directly in Booking.com).
  5. Click Save.
  6. Repeat steps 2-4 for every rate that you want to be available in Booking.com.
    - You can double-check that your rate mapping IDs and names match in Commander and Booking.com by returning to Channel manager rates.

Step 6: Connect space categories to rates

  1. In the Marketplace, go to My subscriptions.
  2. Find the Booking.com integration and click Settings.
  3. Click Channel manager rates.
  4. Find the rate you want, and click on the channel manager ID.
  5. Connect the rate to one or more space categories:
    - Click +, and then click + Channel manager category to only connect specific space categories (for example, if it's a promotional rate).
    - Click to connect all mapped space categories to the rate.

Step 5: Package products

Package products to ensure they're added to your channel manager reservations. Before you can package products in Booking.com, you'll need to adjust your products based on whether they are Included or Excluded in Booking.com.

Check whether products are included in Booking.com

To see whether products are automatically included with reservations:

  1. Log in to Booking.com.
  2. Go to Property > VAT/tax/charges.

You’ll see which products are packaged in Booking.com. If you want to change whether a product is included or excluded in Booking.com, you’ll need to contact them so they can change it for you.

Update products in Commander

  1. Go to Main menu > Settings > Services.
  2. Click on your stay service.
  3. Go to Products.
  4. Click on the product you want to package.
  5. Under Options:
    - If your product is Included in Booking.com, make sure Exclude price from offer is deselected.
    - If your product is Exluded in Booking.com, make sure Exclude price from offer is selected.
  6. Click Save.
    - Now the product can be packaged.

If the product is charged per night or per person per night

Step 1: Map the product

  1. In the Booking.com integration settings, click Channel manager products.
  2. Click the + button.
  3. Under Channel manager ID, enter any number.
    - It doesn't matter which number you choose. Adding a number in this field makes it possible to package the product with a rate.
  4. Under Product, choose the product you want to map.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Repeat steps 3-5 for every product that you want to be sent to Booking.com.

Step 2: Connect the product to a mapped rate

  1. Go to Main menu > Marketplace.
  2. Go to My subscriptions.
  3. Find the Booking.com integration and click Settings.
  4. Click Channel manager rates.
  5. Find the rate you want to package a product with, and click on the channel manager ID.
  6. Click +, and then click + Channel manager product.
  7. Under Product, select the product you want.
  8. Click Create.
  9. Repeat steps 4-8 for every product that you want to be available via Booking.com.
    - Repeat these steps with the same rate to package it with multiple products.

If the product is charged once or per person

These products can't be mapped. Instead, you'll need to create a product rule.

  1. Go to Main menu > Settings > Services.
  2. Click on your stay service.
  3. From the Settings menu, click Product rules.
  4. Click the + button.
  5. Under Action, select Add.
  6. Under Product, choose the product that you want to be added to a reservation.
  7. Choose the condition that must be met in order for the product to be added to the reservation. For example, if you want the product to be added when the reservation is made with a specific rate:
    - Under Rate condition, select Equals.
    - Under Rate, select the rate you want the product packaged with.
  8. Under Origin condition, select Equals
  9. Under Origin, select Channel manager.

Note: If you have Gross pricing in your Accounting configuration, tax needs to be included in Booking.com (because it’s always included in Mews). If you have Net pricing in your Accounting configuration, tax needs to be excluded in Booking.com (because it’s always excluded in Mews).

Step 8: Test the integration

1. Open Commander.

2. Go to Main menu > Marketplace.

3. Go to the My subscriptions tab.

4. Find the Booking.com integration, and click Settings.

5. In the Enabled operations section, select Upload availability, Upload rates, and Upload restrictions.

6. Click Save.

7. Find the Options section at the bottom of the screen, and:
- Under Action, select Push inventory.
- Under From, enter today's date.
- Under To, enter 1 week from today's date.

8. Click OK.

9. Refresh the page.

10. Check the Enabled operations section. If Upload availability, Upload rates, and Upload restrictions are not there, they have been automatically deselected due to errors.
- If this happens, check the inbox of the email address you entered in the Notification email field—we will send you an email about any errors.

11. Fix these errors, and repeat steps 4-8.

12. When there are no errors, repeat step 6, but enter 730 from today's date in the To field.

  • Confirm there are no new errors.

Step 9: Enable the integration

1. Open Commander.

2. Go to Main menu > Marketplace.

3. Go to the My subscriptions tab.

4. Find the Booking.com integration, and click Settings.

5. Select the Enabled checkbox.
- Enabling the integration downloads all future reservations that are in Booking.com. All mapping must be correct before the connection is enabled—if they aren't, reservations will be created with the wrong rates and space categories.

The next step depends on whether you're new to Mews, or just moving Booking.com from your existing channel manager to the direct integration.

If you’re new to Mews:

6. Select the Download future reservations checkbox; you won’t have to manually import future Booking.com reservations from your old PMS. If these reservations are updated in Booking.com, they’ll be automatically updated in Commander.

7. Click Save.

If you’re already a Mewser:

6. Under Enabled operations, find the Download future reservations checkbox.
- If you select the checkbox: Your future Booking.com reservations will be automatically updated in Commander when they’re updated in Booking.com. These reservations will be duplicated, and you'll have to manually cancel the duplicates.
- If you deselect the checkbox: Your future Booking.com reservations won’t be automatically updated in Commander when they’re updated in Booking.com—you’ll receive an email notification whenever an update for a future Booking.com reservation fails.

7. Click Save

Note: You should only use the Download future reservations operation when you first connect the integration; once you're connected, use the Download reservations operation for normal reservation updates.

What else can I do with Booking.com?

Automatically report invalid payment cards

Turn on automatic invalid credit card reporting so that:

  • Booking.com will be automatically notified about invalid payment cards.
  • Booking.com will contact guests who attempt to pay with invalid cards and request that they update their payment method.
  • All invalid cards (physical or virtual) will be disabled in Mews, and a note will be added to the payment screen.
  1. In the Marketplace, go to My subscriptions.
  2. Find your Booking.com integration and click Settings.
  3. Under Enabled operations, select Report invalid credit card.
  4. Click Save.

Automatically put canceled rooms back up for sale on Booking.com

Booking.com has a feature called "Auto-replenishment" that puts canceled rooms back up for sale on Booking.com. This helps properties to sell more because they can automatically offer maximum availability.

There are two types of auto-replenishment:

  1. Default auto-replenishment: When a reservation is canceled, your property's availability is automatically adjusted and the cancelled room is put back on sale for those dates. This always happens, and cannot be disabled. Note: To avoid discrepancies between Booking.com and Mews, you should: 1) make sure you update/cancel reservations directly in the Booking.com extranet, and 2) mark reservations as no-shows in both Mews and the Booking.com extranet at the same time.
  2. Reopen closed rooms auto-replenishment: If this setting is activated, all canceled rooms will be auto-replenished—even if the property has closed sales for that date. You can manage this in the Booking.com extranet.

Learn more about Booking.com's auto-replenishment.
