SynXis has direct, 2-way integration with Mews. With this connection, you can update rates, availability, and restrictions in SynXis, and receive reservations in Commander.

Before you start

Here are some things you need to do before you set up SynXis for Commander:

- Email your SynXis account manager to request a connection with Mews.
- If you're already using an existing interface, you'll need to talk to your provider for de-implementation.


- Co-ordinate your next steps with your SynXis account manager (on average, transfers and testing happen between 45 and 70 days after you first contact your SynXis account manager).

Note: If you're already live with Mews, we won't configure whole channel manager integrations for you—we'll just handle the testing, and help you out if you have any problems.

Step 1: Connect SynXis

  1. Go to Main menu > Marketplace.
  2. Under Categories, select Distribution.
  3. Find the SynXis integration and click See more.
  4. Click Connect.
    - When the integration has been successfully connected, you'll be redirected to the My subscriptions tab.
  5. In your list of active integrations, find SynXis and click Settings.
    - Do not enable the integration yet⁠—it's important that you wait until all of your space categories and rates are mapped and tested.
  6. In the Channel manager ID field, enter your SynXis CRS ID.
  7. In the Username field, enter your SynXis Interface Username.
  8. In the Password field, enter your SynXis Password.
  9. Click Save.

Step 2: Map space categories

To map your space categories, you'll need your PMS Room type codes from the SynXis mapping file⁠—it looks like this:

  1. In the SynXis integration settings, click Channel manager categories.
  2. Click +.
  3. In the Channel manager ID field, enter the PMS room type code.
  4. Under Category, select the space category connected to that code.
  5. Select the Synchronized checkbox to send availability updates to the channel manager.
    - If a space category is unsynchronized, no updates are sent.
  6. Click Create.
  7. Repeat steps 2-5 for every space category that you want to be available in SynXis.

Step 3: Map rates

To map your space categories, you'll need your PMS Rate codes from the SynXis mapping file⁠—it looks like this:

  1. In the SynXis integration settings, click Channel manager rates.
  2. Click +.
  3. In the Channel manager ID field, enter the SynXis PMS rate code.
  4. Under Rate, select the rate connected to that code.
  5. Find the Synchronized check box, and decide which updates you want to send to the channel manager.
    - Synchronized rates send pricing and restriction updates to the channel manager.
    - Unsynchronized rates don’t send pricing or restriction updates to the channel manager, but can still receive reservations. (Note: unsynchronized rates need to be updated directly in SynXis).
  6. Click Create.
  7. Repeat steps 2-6 for every rate that you want to be available in SynXis.

Step 4: Connect space categories to rates

  1. In the Marketplace, go to My subscriptions.
  2. Find the SynXis integration and click Settings.
  3. Click Channel manager rates.
  4. Find the rate you want, and click on the channel manager ID.
  5. Connect the rate to one or more space categories:
    - Click +, and then click + Channel manager category to only connect specific space categories (for example, if it's a promotional rate).
    - Click to connect all mapped space categories to the rate.

Step 5: Package products

Package products to ensure they're added to your channel manager reservations

If the product is charged per night or per person per night

Step 1: Map the product

  1. In the SynXis integration settings, click Channel manager products.
  2. Click the + button.
  3. Under Channel manager ID, enter any number.
    - It doesn't matter which number you choose. Adding a number in this field makes it possible to package the product with a rate.
  4. Under Product, choose the product you want to map.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Repeat steps 3-5 for every product that you want to be sent to SynXis.

Step 2: Connect the product to a mapped rate

  1. Go to Main menu > Marketplace.
  2. Go to My subscriptions.
  3. Find the SynXis integration and click Settings.
  4. Click Channel manager rates.
  5. Find the rate you want to package a product with, and click on the channel manager ID.
  6. Click +, and then click + Channel manager product.
  7. Under Product, select the product you want.
  8. Click Create.
  9. Repeat steps 4-8 for every product that you want to be available via SynXis.
    - Repeat these steps with the same rate to package it with multiple products.

If the product is charged once or per person

These products can't be mapped. Instead, you'll need to create a product rule.

  1. Go to Main menu > Settings > Services.
  2. Click on your stay service.
  3. From the Settings menu, click Product rules.
  4. Click the + button.
  5. Under Action, select Add.
  6. Under Product, choose the product that you want to be added to a reservation.
  7. Choose the condition that must be met in order for the product to be added to the reservation. For example, if you want the product to be added when the reservation is made with a specific rate:
    - Under Rate condition, select Equals.
    - Under Rate, select the rate you want the product packaged with.
  8. Under Origin condition, select Equals
  9. Under Origin, select Channel manager.

Step 6: Set up travel agencies

Use the codes from SynXis when you set up travel agency profiles and contracts. You can use travel agency mapping to determine which GDS, OTA, or smaller travel agency is attached to your incoming reservations—learn more about travel agency mapping.

Step 7: Test the integration

Contact your account managers from SynXis and your current channel manager to schedule the transfer to Mews⁠—all three of you will have a joint testing call for the new connection.

Test availability, rates, and restrictions

  1. Open the SynXis integration settings.
  2. In the Enabled operations section, select Upload availability, Upload rates, and Upload restrictions.
    - You could also test each type of upload one by one—just select one operation at a time before you complete steps 6-10 for each one.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Find the Options section at the bottom of the screen, and:
    - Under Action, select Push inventory.
    - Under From, enter today's date.
    - Under To, enter 1 week from today's date.
  5. Click `Ok`.
  6. Check that your dates, inventory, and restrictions all match in Mews and the SynXis extranet.

Test reservations

  1. Open your SynXis extranet, booking engine, or any other channel that you have connected via SynXis.
  2. Make a reservation for one of your non-refundable rates.
    - After a few minutes, the reservation will appear in Mews.
  3. Open the reservation and confirm that the information matches what you entered in your SynXis booking.

Step 8: Enable the Integration

  1. Open Commander.
  2. Go to Main menu > Marketplace.
  3. Go to the My subscriptions tab.
  4. Find the SynXis integration, and click Settings.
  5. Select the Enabled checkbox at the top of the page.
  6. Click Save.
