Connecting your key encoders to Commander is a great way to cut down on check-in time and simplify processes. After you set up the Messerschmitt integration, you can cut keys directly in Commander without ever needing to use the Messerschmitt FIAS interface application.

System requirements

To use the Messerschmitt integration, you'll need to have the Messerschmitt FIAS interface application and Mews Connector installed on the same computer at your property.

If it has not already been installed at your property, please see our guide for instructions on how to install Connector.

Step 1: Set up the Messerschmitt integration

Before you can set up the Messerschmitt integration, you must have the Messerschmitt FIAS interface application installed on a computer at your property.

Run the Messerschmitt FIAS interface application

  1. Open the Messerschmitt FIAS interface application on your computer.
  2. In the application, right-click and choose Settings. In your FIAS settings:
    - Make sure Enable key card interface is selected.
    - Make note of the IP (server) and Listen port.

Create the integration

  1. Open Commander.
  2. Go to Main menu > Marketplace.
  3. In the Facility management section, click See more under Key cutter integration.
  4. Click Connect.
  5. In the Name field, enter “Messerschmitt.”
  6. In the API URL field, enter the IP address 127.0.0.1 and the Listen port (found in the Messerschmitt application) in the following format: http://127.0.0.1:Listen port. For example, if your port number is 6666, you should enter http://127.0.0.1:6666 in this field.
  7. Leave the Username and Password fields blank.
  8. Click Create.
  9. Click OK.

Step 2: Set up the Messerschmitt key cutters

After you create the Messerschmitt integration in Commander, you can set up your key cutters.

  1. In the Messerschmitt integration settings, click Key cutters.
  2. Click the + button.
  3. In the Name field, enter a name for the key cutter based on where it is located or what will be most easily understandable for your staff.
  4. In the Identifier field, enter the number that corresponds to the encoder.
    - This number will directly correlate to the number of Messerschmitt encoders that you have at your property. For example, if you have two encoders: the Identifier will be 1 for one encoder and 2 for the other.
    - You cannot find this number in the Messerschmitt FIAS interface application, so please make an educated guess. If your key cutting commands are not being sent to the correct encoder, you can always update the Identifier in the key cutter settings.
  5. In the Data JSON field, enter the following: { "Type": "FiasProtocol" }.
    - In a hostel environment, where you need to create duplicate keys for guests arriving at different times, enter {"Type": "FiasProtocol", "DuplicateKeyAllowed":"True" }.
  6. Click Create.
  7. Repeat steps 1-6 for every Messerschmitt key cutter being used at your property.

Step 3: Map Messerschmitt key cutters in Commander

If your space numbers in Commander and the Messerschmitt FIAS application do not match exactly (for example, "004" and "4" is not an exact match), you must create key cutter mappings for all of your spaces.

  1. In the Messerschmitt integration settings, click Key cutter mappings.
  2. Click the + button.
  3. Under Room, select a space number from the drop-down list.
  4. In the Lock identifier field, enter the corresponding space number as it is listed in the Messerschmitt FIAS interface application.
  5. Click Create.
  6. Repeat steps 1-5 for every space that needs to be mapped in Commander.

Step 4: Activate your key cutters

  1. Go to Main menu > Marketplace.
  2. Go to the My subscriptions tab.
  3. Next to your key cutter integration, click Settings.
  4. Select the Enabled checkbox.
  5. Click Save.

Not working?

If your Visionline encoder isn't creating keys, check the Device Commands Queue to find out why. Copy the link in the Notes or search by the response message.
