Connecting your key encoders to Commander is a great way to cut down on check-in time and simplify processes. After you set up the Salto integration, you can cut keys directly in Commander without ever needing to use the Salto application.

NOTE for properties using Salto HAMS:

Properties may still (at their own risk) connect, but note that this product is no longer supported by its manufacturer and therefore Mews will not be able to give any assistance. We recommend you upgrade your door lock solution to a more recent version.

System requirements

To use the Salto integration, you'll need:

- Ethernet encoders by Salto.
- If you don't already have ethernet encoders, contact Salto to upgrade.

- Mews Connector and the Salto application installed on the same computer at your property.
- If it has not already been installed at your property, please see our guide for instructions on how to install Connector.

Step 1: Set up the Salto integration

Before you can set up the Salto integration, you must have the Salto application (either Salto ProAccess Space Configurator or Hotel Access Management Software) installed on a computer at your property.

Note: While you'll need the Salto application downloaded onto the same computer as Connector, you'll still be able to create/manage keys from any computer at your property via the web browser.

Run the Salto application

  1. Open the Salto application on your computer.
  2. Go to your PMS settings, and:
    - Make note of the Interface port (under Parameters), which you will need when creating the integration in Commander.
    - Make sure the TCP/IP channel is selected.

How it looks in ProAccess SPACE:

Go to System > General tools > PMS.

How it looks in Hotel Access Management Software:

Create the integration

  1. Open Commander.
  2. Go to Main menu > Marketplace.
  3. In the Facility management section, click See more under Key cutter integration.
  4. Click Connect.
  5. In the Name field, enter “Salto.”
  6. In the API URL field, enter the IP address 127.0.0.1 and the Interface port (found in the Salto application) in the following format: https://127.0.0.1:Interface port. For example, if your interface port is 6666, you should enter https://127.0.0.1:6666 in this field.
  7. Leave the Username and Password fields blank.
  8. Click Create.
  9. Click OK.

Step 2: Set up the Salto key cutters

After you create the Salto integration in Commander, you can set up your key cutters.

  1. In the Salto integration settings, click Key cutters.
  2. Click the + button.
  3. In the Name field, enter a name for the key cutter based on where it is located or what will be most easily understandable for your staff.
  4. In the Identifier field, enter the Name of the device as it is found in your Salto application. To find the name open your Salto application, go to System > SALTO Network, go to the SALTO Network tab, and look for the Name listed next to each device.

5. In the Data JSON field, enter the following: { "Type": "IndustryStandardProtocol" }.
- In a hostel environment, where you need to create duplicate keys for guests arriving at different times, enter { "Type": "IndustryStandardProtocol", "DuplicateKeyAllowed":"True" }.

6. Click Create.

7. Repeat steps 1-6 for every Salto key cutter being used at your property.

Step 3: Map Salto rooms/doors cutters in Commander

If your space numbers in Commander and the Salto application do not match exactly (for example, "004" and "4" is not an exact match), you must create key cutter mappings for all of your spaces.

  1. In the Salto integration settings, click Key cutter mappings.
  2. Click the + button.
  3. Under Room, select a space number from the drop-down list.
  4. In the Lock identifier field, enter the corresponding space number as it is listed in your Room or Door configuration in the Salto application.
  5. Click Create.
  6. Repeat steps 1-5 for every space that needs to be mapped in Commander.

Step 4: Activate your key cutters

  1. Go to Main menu > Marketplace.
  2. Go to the My subscriptions tab.
  3. Next to your key cutter integration, click Settings.
  4. Select the Enabled checkbox.
  5. Click Save.

  2. Click Services.
  3. Find the Salto application.
  4. Right-click it, and select Restart.

Not working?

If your Visionline encoder isn't creating keys, check the Device Commands Queue to find out why. Copy the link in the Notes or search by the response message.
