The Editable History Window decides how far in the past you can modify reservations. For example, if you realised you forgot to modify a reservation 2 days ago, and your editable history window is 7 days, you can still go back and make the necessary changes.

Why do we have an editable history window?

Other PMSs have a process called the “Night audit” which ends the day, posts charges, and closes transactions. Usually, this happens at around 2 or 3am to avoid missing any arriving guests who may check in late. With Mews, there’s no need for a night audit—everything is processed instantly, and the Editable History Window allows you to still check guests in with a date in the past.

Operational vs Accounting

There are two types of editable history window in Mews; one for accounting, and one for operations. This allows you to have a stricter window for accounting items (for example, so you can't change bill items from more than 1 day ago), and a more relaxed window for operations (for example, so you can cancel a house use from 5 days ago).

💸 Accounting Editable History Window

The accounting editable history window applies to all operations that affect accounting items such cancelling, repricing, adding, or modifying them. To set up or extend your accounting editable history window:

  1. Go to Main menu > Settings > Property.
  2. Go to your Accounting configuration.
  3. Under Accounting editable history window, enter the number of days and hours you want the window to be (maximum 7 days).
  4. Click Save.

🛎️ Operational Editable History Window

The operational editable history window is for operational, front-desk actions, like check-outs or no-show cancellations. To set up or extend your operational editable history window:

  1. Go to Main menu > Settings > Property.
  2. In the General settings section, under Operational editable history window, enter the number of days and hours you want the window to be (maximum 7 days). Note: You should consider your check-in time—if your editable history window is 4 hours and your check-in time is 3pm, you won't be able to create a new booking for the same day after 7pm.
  3. Click Save.
