2. Is Google Hotel Search linked to Google Hotel Ads?

The Google Hotel Search integration is not linked to Google Hotel Ads. Please reach out to Google's Support team for more help.


3. What are "Free Booking Links"?

Google has launched a program where you can list your property free of charge. You can learn more about it here. Also, Free Booking Links can be combined with Google Hotel Ads.


4. What does "price accuracy" mean?

Price accuracy means that prices in Google Hotel Search and Mews have to match. This is crucial because the Google team monitors price accuracy and can remove your listing if prices don't match. But, you will be notified first about this in the Google Hotel Search Center. Read this article to learn more about Google's price accuracy policy.


5. Why is my property hidden in Google Hotel Search?

There are several reasons for this. Namely:

  • Price discrepancy

    As explained under price accuracy, the prices sent to Google via the integration need to match the prices in the Mews Booking Engine. You can find instructions on how to set this up correctly in our Google Hotels Search guide. Please review the product mapping and product rules linked to the mapped rates.

  • Activation period

    It takes up to 48 hours for Google to add your connection on their end.

    Note: The current activation period can take up to 2 weeks due to high demand after the go-live. Google has a manual process for price accuracy checks, which is causing the delay.

  • No Availability

    Review restrictions and occupancy. If potential guests are unable to book via Mews, then the link to the booking engine is hidden.

  • Third-party connection

    A Google Business Account can be linked to one official website only. Google your business to see if there is a site linked to it already.

  • Private Rates

    Google automatically rejects connections that have private rates mapped in the integration.

  • Zero value price

    Rate prices in the amount of zero value will be rejected by Google. Please check the prices of the mapped rates.

  • Incorrect contact information

    The address and phone number given in Mews need to match the information in your Google Business Account.

  • Incorrect property type

    • Google does not support apartments. Check your property type in Mews (Menu > Settings > Property)

    • Your business needs to be under the hotel/hostel/resort category in Google. Please review your Google Business Account


6. How does Google Hotel Search work with Google Tag Manager?

There are no changes here. You can still add a Google tag to your Mews configuration. Check these guides to set GTM and Google Analytics:


7. What price does Google Hotel Search display?

Google Hotel Search shows the lowest price based on the applied filters.


8. How does Google Hotel Search manage cancellation policies?

Google Hotel Search pulls the cancellation policy of each mapped rate in Mews.

In Google Hotel Search, users can filter rates based on the cancellation policy. For example, a guest can add a Free cancellation only filter.

Cancellation policy translation between Mews and Google Hotel Search:

  • A rate is considered strictly non-refundable when no offset is configured in Mews.

  • A rate qualifies for a Free cancellation tag in Google Hotel Search when it gives enough time to cancel.

    For example, if a reservation is three months away and there's an offset of two months, it is likely to show up as Free cancellation. On the other hand, with an offset of six hours on the same day, a reservation is not likely to show up as Free cancellation.


9. How can I set prices based on occupancy?

You can set different prices for each guest count by adjusting Empty and/or extra bed adjustment. Read this article to learn more about occupancy-based prices in Mews.

Google Hotel Search can accept up to 10 pax prices per one rate.


10. What happens when I update mapping in Mews?

When you update mapping (create/remove/synchronize/unsynchronize rate, space category), Mews automatically notifies Google Hotel Search.

  • Just make sure Change notification operation is enabled.

  • Trigger a manual push for a year.

Your newest updates are now processed in Google Hotel Search. No configuration error emails! Google Hotel Search updates mapping based on inventory updates.
