Recurring Payments lets you automate guest charges based on billing automation rules. After you create a payment plan, you may need to stop it, for example if a reservation is cancelled or the guest wants to change their payment method. You cancel the plan in the guest profile in Mews Operations, under the Payments tab. This helps you stay in control of billing and respond to guest requests quickly.
Note
- Please check your local legal requirements before proceeding with the below steps.
In this article you can learn about the following steps:
Step 1: Find the payment plan
- In Mews Operations,
-
- go to the main menu
> Profiles > Customer profiles, then click the name of the customer whose profile you want to modify, or
- enter a customer’s name into the dashboard search bar, then click to go to their profile.
- go to the main menu
- Click to select the Payments tab
- Under the Recurring section, find the plan you want to cancel.
Step 2: View plan details
- Click to select the name of the plan to open its details.
- Review the payment schedule, start date, and current status.
The plan can have one of the following statuses:
- Planned: The plan is ready but not yet active. This means the guest has not submitted their payment method or the activation step is not complete.
- Active: The plan is live. The guest has submitted a valid payment method, and charges run automatically based on the payment plan settings. You can no longer change the schedule or plan details.
- Cancelled: The plan has been cancelled and no longer runs. The system disables the payment method it captures for the plan. No future charges are made through this plan, but you can still view its history in the profile.
Step 3: Cancel the plan
To cancel a plan:
- From the plan overview, click Cancel.
- Confirm the cancellation in the pop-up window.
The status updates to Cancelled and the plan stops all future billing and charging actions.
Note: Cancelling a plan disables the payment method. To use the payment method again, you must take the payment method details from the guest again.
This cancels a plan using Recurring Payments.
