Once you enable your channels, you can monitor their status in the Channel status widget on the Revenue overview and the Channels screen. The Channel status widget provides a daily overview across all your channels while the Channels screen provides details about a specific channel.
You do this as part of your daily routine, alongside checking arrivals, occupancy, and pickup. A few minutes on the Revenue overview each morning surfaces any channel issues before they become bookings you cannot fulfil or revenue you have lost.
In this article you can learn about:
- Monitoring channel status in the Channel status widget
- Monitoring channel status in the Channels screen
- What to do next
Monitoring channel status with the Channel status widget
To view the Channel status widget, in Mews Operations, go to the main menu > Revenue > Overview. Here you can view the sync state of every one of your spaces in all connected channels in a single grid.
You see:
- One row per space category, for example, Standard Double, Junior Suite, Executive Suite.
- One column per connected channel, for example, Direct, Booking.com, Expedia, Airbnb Hotels.
- A sync state in each cell, showing how that space is syncing on that channel.
The widget also shows a summary above the grid, for example, "2 issues need attention · last sync 4 min ago", so you know whether anything needs your attention.
The four sync states
Each cell in the Channel status widget shows one of four states:
- Synced: Your rates and availability are up to date on the channel for this space. No action needed.
- Updating: Changes are on their way to the channel. This is a temporary state that resolves within a few minutes.
- Missing mapping: You have not mapped a room rate on this channel to a Mews room category and rate. You cannot receive bookings for this space on this channel correctly until you fix the mapping. See Resolving missing room rate mappings in Mews Channel Manager.
- Not selling: The channel is connected but this space is not currently being sold on it. If this is not intentional, review the channel settings.
- Disabled: You have disabled the channel from the extranet. If this is not intentional, review the channel settings.
Filtering the widget
Above the grid, you can narrow what you see by:
- Property: if you manage more than one property, filter the widget to a single property.
- Rate plan: filter to a specific rate plan, for example, Fully Flexible or Non-Refundable, so you check the sync state for one rate at a time.
Use the filters to focus on the part of your inventory you care about, especially if you have many space categories and channels.
Monitoring channel status with the Channels screen
To view the Channel screen, in Mews Operations, go to the main menu > Revenue > Tools > Channels >
> Monitoring.
The Channels screen shows each of your channels as a row with:
- Timestamp: The date and time the event occurred.
- Event type: The type of event, such as, Inventory push.
- Inventory type: The inventory type, such as, Prices.
- Status: The event status, such as, Failed or Scheduled.
- Duration: How long the event lasted.
- Retries: The number of times the event has attempted to complete.
What to do next
Build a short daily habit around channel monitoring:
- Open the Revenue overview and glance at the Channel status widget.
- If everything shows Synced, you are done for the day.
- If you see Missing mapping, resolve it. See Resolving missing room rate mappings in Mews Channel Manager.
- If you see Not selling on a space you meant to sell, open the Channels screen and check the channel's settings. See How to configure channel settings in Mews Channel Manager.
- If you see a sudden change in sync state, open the audit log for the affected channel to see what has happened
With a daily glance at the Channel status widget and a targeted look at the Channels screen when something needs attention, you spot channel issues early, before they turn into missed bookings or overbookings.
