Hotels for Trees integration FAQs

How can we track how many trees we have planted? 

You can see the impact on the Hotels for Trees website per hotel/ day. 
 

What happens if a property does not have the skip cleaning setting enabled? 

If a property does not enable the skip cleaning setting on the bookable service level, they cannot see the Skip cleaning section in the header of the Space status report. However, the totals column is still present in the export.

What are the skip cleaning options in Mews Operations? 

Skip today's cleaning

  • Skips cleaning for 1 night and is tied to the reservation. You can see the hanger state in the Mews app. 
  • If a reservation moves, so does the cleaning state. 
  • The cleaning schedule is automatically reset afterwards. 

Skip cleaning (Mews app)

  • Skips cleaning for 1 night and is tied to the room.  
  • If a reservation moves, the state remains on a room.  
  • The cleaning schedule is automatically reset afterwards. 

Skip all cleaning

  • Skips the entire period of stay, to a maximum of 3 days. 
  • Only appears for 3 night stays. 

Enable cleaning

  • Space is ready for cleaning. 
  • Trees are planted and the cleaning schedule is reset. The skip cleaning count in the space status report remains the same.  

 

What is the difference between skip cleaning on the Mews app and Mews Operations? 

The system bases Skip cleaning in the Mews app on the space. Here, housekeepers can choose the space they don’t clean. 

Mews Operations bases Skip cleaning at the reservation level. No matter which room a reservation is in, a tree is planted for that guest.  

Note: In both cases, reporting in Mews Operations remains the same.  

 

How can guests choose to skip cleaning? 

Guests can choose to skip cleaning through: 

  • The Guest portal at the time of online check in. 
  • The front desk at check in and during their stay by asking front office staff. 
  • Adding hangers to the door handle, housekeeping staff can then select Skip cleaning from the Mews app. 

Note: Skip cleaning through the Guest Portal is only available for 2 and 3 night stays.

 

What data is shown at the top of the space status report? 

The top bar in the space status report now shows Arrivals, Departures, Stay overs and Skip cleanings per day. 

  • Arrivals - Number of reservations arriving per day. 
  • Departures - Number of reservations departing per day. 
  • Stay overs - Number of rooms stay overs for the selected date. 
  • Skip cleaning - Number of rooms where cleaning has been skipped for the selected date. 

Note: 

  • Arrivals and Departures refer to the reservations. 
  • Stay overs and Skip cleaning refer to the rooms. 

 

How is Hotels for Trees aware that there is a new property connected?  

Once a property creates a new Hotels for Trees integration, Floris from Hotels for trees receives the email below informing him the name of the Hotel that requested a new integration.  

 

Does placing the hanger on the door always trigger a tree planting? 

Yes, if the Hotels for Trees integration is enabled for that reservation, the hanger always triggers a tree planting and a 5€ charge.
