Guidelines to comply with Revenu Québec requirements for Food and Beverage transactions in Mews Operations

To comply with new legal requirements for food and beverage transactions, properties in Quebec must digitally register all such transactions with Revenu Québec starting June 1, 2025. This means that you must use a certified POS system which submits each transaction to Revenu Québec.

Note: You are legally responsible for ensuring Revenu Québec Sales Recording System compliance. Mews stores the POS transaction number but does not validate it with Revenu Québec.

You must work with your POS provider or integration partner to ensure you follow these guidelines:

  • You are responsible for using a POS certified by Revenu Québec.
  • Your POS system should:
    • Report each food and beverage sale to Revenu Québec
    • Receive confirmation that Revenu Québec recorded the transaction
  • Your POS system should share the POS transaction number with the Mews system based on the type of sale:
    • If you post items to a guest bill using the Charge to room function: Ensure the POS automatically adds the POS transaction number in the Notes field of the order.
    • If you settle items in the POS, for example, bar or takeout sales: Mews recommends that you also ensure the POS automatically adds the POS transaction number in the Notes field of the outlet bill in Mews Operations. Note: This is optional.
  • You must confirm with your POS provider or integration partner that they follow the information above and in the API documentation.

You can retrieve these records for audit purposes by using the order’s linked reservation or consumption date.
