Multicurrency by Mews Payments enables transparent currency conversion for eligible guest card payments processed through Mews Payments across your property: online, at the front desk, and in your outlets. Multicurrency applies to payments taken via:

  • Booking Engine,
  • Payment Requests,
  • Mews Terminals in Mews Operations,
  • Mews POS, for in-person payments, and
  • Mews Kiosk.

Mews enables Multicurrency by default for eligible properties. With Multicurrency, guests can view the cost of the room or service in their preferred currency. They can then pay for these rooms or services using their currency with transparent fees. In addition, your property claims a portion of the transaction fee as revenue, creating an additional revenue stream.

Guests should ensure they understand the terms and conditions of the services their card issuer.

How do refunds work with Multicurrency?

When you issue a refund in Mews Operations, Mews processes the transaction using the original payment currency. The system displays both the property currency and the guest’s currency, and gives details on the exchange rate. Mews uses Stripe base exchange rates to calculate the refund amount.

How does Multicurrency display on the billing screen?

Before Mews processes the payment, the billing screen displays the amounts in the currency of the property. If the guest chooses payment with Multicurrency, the bill updates, and displays the currency the guest used for the transaction and the amount.
