- the Accounting report is now called the Order item report.
- use the new Ledger activity report. The new report is specifically designed for accountants, as Mews built it on immutable data. You can also configure it to your accounting day.
The Accounting report is an overview of all revenue posted in Mews Operations. The report helps streamline financial management, making it easier for property owners, managers, and accountants to have an accurate and up-to-date view of the property's financial performance. Use the report for regular financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, tax reporting, and compliance.
The Accounting report:
- Lists items once, on the date they were closed, consumed, or created.
- Groups the individual items and counts the number of items per entry.
- Displays payments as negative figures.
To view the Accounting report in Mews Operations,
- on your Mews Dashboard, in the Finance section, click

Setting the filters in the report
You can refine data in this report with the following filters:
- Type:
- Closed: View all revenue for bill items that are completely processed in the selected time period.
- Consumed: View all revenue for bill items consumed in the selected time period. This may include items on open bills.
- Created: View all revenue for bill items created in the selected time period. This may include items on open bills.
- Mode:
- Detailed: View each individual revenue item grouped by type.
- Grouped: View revenue item totals grouped by category.
- Start: Select a start date to restrict results to a specific time period.
- End: Select an end date to restrict results to a specific time period.
Note: Click on the time to choose any desired time, at 15 min intervals.
- Group by: Choose how to group the data in the report.
- Accounting category: Group by accounting categories used at your property.
- Accounting category classification: Group by accounting category classification.
- Bill owner: Group by bills assigned to customers, companies, and those unassigned.
- Creator: Group by the person posting the items.
- Date: Group by date.
- Reservation group: Group reservations by the group name.
- Service: Group by service and subsequent products of each.
- Service order: Group by the service order. This could either be nights from the stay service or product orders.
- Service order origin: Group by the origin of each booking.
- Tax identifier: Group by the tax ID attached to a bill or invoice.
- Tax rate: Group by each available tax rate.
- Counter: To see only bills and invoices with a specific bill counter assigned, select the bill counter from the drop-down menu.
- Profile: View items from a specific customer or company profile. Note: To search for a profile, type any part of the profile name. Then, click the desired profile to fill in the field automatically.
- Profile type: View bill items assigned to Company or Customer.
- Company: View bill items assigned to companies.
- Customer: View bill items assigned to customers.
- Service: View items from a specific service.
- Accounting category: View items from specific accounting categories. Note: You can select multiple accounting categories from the list.
Understanding the fields in the report
The report starts by displaying the following fields:
- Total revenue: A sum total of revenue for the duration of the selected Start and End date.
- Transactions: A sum total of deposits paid for unconsumed stays for the duration of the selected Start and End date.
- Payments: A sum total of payments for the duration of the selected Start and End date.
- Outlets: A sum total of reported revenue from connected outlets for the duration of the selected Start and End date.
The report then divides the data into four sections: Revenue, Payments, Transactions and Outlets. You can click the + button next to each item in the report to expand it and view more information, in the order from general to specific.
Revenue
Revenue in Detailed mode
- Bill item: The bill item.
- Created, Consumed or Closed: The date and time the bill item was created, consumed or closed. Note: The detail you see depends on which Type filter you select.
- Bill: The bill number, from where the bill item originates.
- VAT rate: The tax rate applied to the item.
- Net: The total, excluding tax.
- VAT: The value-added tax, excluding the price of the taxed item.
- Amount: The total value of the item, i.e., Net + VAT.
- Fully rebated: If you rebated all items in the group.
- Partially rebated: If you only rebated some of the items in the group.
Revenue in Grouped mode
In Grouped mode, the Accounting report lists your revenue items with the following details:
- Bill item: The bill item.
- Count: The number of items per entry.
- VAT rate: The tax rate applied to the item.
- Net: The total, excluding tax.
- VAT: The value-added tax, excluding the price of the taxed item.
- Amount: The total value of the item, i.e., Net + VAT.
Payments
Payments in Detailed mode
- Payment: The payment.
- Created, Consumed or Closed: The date and time the bill item attached to the payment was created, consumed or closed. Note: The detail you see depends on which Type filter you select.
- Bill: The bill number the payment relates to.
- VAT rate: The tax rate applied to the item.
- Net: The total, excluding tax.
- VAT: The value-added tax, excluding the price of the taxed item.
- Amount: The total value of the item, i.e., Net + VAT.
Payments in Grouped mode
In Grouped mode, the Accounting report lists your payments with the following details:
- Payment: The payment.

- Count: The number of items per entry.

- Net: The total, excluding tax.
- VAT: The value-added tax, excluding the price of the taxed item.
- Amount: The total value of the item, i.e., Net + VAT.
Exporting the report
You can export this report to Excel to easily view all of your revenue according to the filters selected, make necessary corrections, and then import it directly to your external accounting system. To export the Accounting report:
- Click on Export.
- Click on Export to Excel to export to an Excel sheet.
