Apple Pay and Google Pay guest journeys

This article provides information about the Apple Pay and Google Pay guest journeys during various payment transactions in Mews.

The guest journey depends on the operating system the user has while making the transactions. iOS devices display the Apple Pay payment option, while Android devices display the Google Pay payment option.

In this article you can view the following payment journey for both Apple Pay and Google Pay in these scenarios:

 

Invitation to pay 

In Mews Booking Engine

When booking reservations online, guests see the following "Contact & payment details" page, with the Apple Pay and Google Pay logos visible at the bottom of the page, along with other payment alternatives. Guests fill in their details and click on the "Continue" button to proceed to the payment page.

 

Payment requests

For payment requests, guests receive the request by email as seen below, with the "Pay now" button. 

Online Check-out

When guests opt for online check-out, they can review their bill before payment on the "Review your bill" page. After reviewing their bill, they can click on the "Next" button to go to the payment screen.

 

Initiate payment

When guests proceed to initiate the payment, depending on whether they are using an iOS or Android device, they see the following "Make a payment" screen. 

For iOS devices

The Apple Pay option is as seen below. Guests choose the Apple Pay option and click on the Apple Pay button to initiate the payment.
 

 

For Android devices

The Google Pay option is visible. Guests choose the Google Pay option and click on the Google Pay button to initiate payment.
 

Payment authentication 

On iOS 

Guests on iOS now see the payment screen where Apple Pay asks for biometric verification to complete payment.
 

 

On iPhone

Guests using their iPhones pay by double-clicking the right-side button as prompted on their mobile screens.
 
 

With Google Pay

Guests paying with Google Pay see the following Google Pay payment screen after entering their Google Pay PIN. Then they click on the "Pay" button to initiate payment.
 

Payment completion and outcome

On payment initiation, both Apple Pay and Google Pay transactions show the following screen for payments in process:
 

A successful Apple Pay or Google Pay payment transaction displays the following screen:

A failed Apple Pay or Google Pay payment transaction results in the following screen:
