Connecting the new upgraded version: Mews Terminal 2.0
Note:
- The system requires you to only use secure Wi-Fi connections for all internet-enabled payment devices.
- It is important you connect your Mews Terminal 2.0 to password-protected Wi-Fi networks that leverage either WPA-Personal or WPA2-Personal encryption.
- If you connect your Mews Terminal 2.0 device to a public Wi-Fi network, the payment provider disconnects you, preventing you from processing payments.
You need to connect the Mews Terminal 2.0 to the same local network as Mews. To connect:
- Tap Settings.
- Enter the admin PIN. Note: Your admin PIN is visible in your New Mews terminal integration.
- Select Network to choose the network and connect.
Note:
- Attempting to join a new network disconnects the terminal from any existing wireless connection.
- Mews Terminal 2.0 does not support non-password-protected networks, enterprise networks and IPV6 networks.

Troubleshooting
Weak Wi-Fi issues with the new upgraded version: Mews Terminal 2.0
Mews ships every new Mews Terminal 2.0 with an optional Ethernet dock. The dock provides wired ethernet connectivity while keeping your terminal fully charged using the included charging cable.
To set up the dock:
- Connect the Ethernet cable from your dock to your router.
- Connect the dock to power. Note: The minimum power requirement is 5V-2A, i.e., 10W and includes a charging cable. You can plug the cable into any USB-A power adapter. Note: The adapter is not included.
- After connecting both cables, insert the reader into the dock.
To confirm correct docking of the reader, verify that the reader is charging and the Ethernet icon
is visible in the status bar. Note: The dock’s charging cable needs to be USB-A to USB-C. The dock doesn’t work with a USB-C to USB-C connection.
The reader obtains an IP address using DHCP. As soon as you plug in the network cable, the reader attempts to establish communication with Mews Payments.
Enabling cellular data
You can now use the Mews Terminal 1.0 Android and V400m mobile payment terminals with cellular data, free of charge.
Cellular data ensures the best backup connection when the Wi-Fi signal is weak.
The newly activated SIM cards ensure a stable connection.
Mews Terminal 1.0: Android model
To enable cellular data on your Android terminal:
- Open the Admin menu.
- Select Network settings > Cellular option > Enabled.
Note: If the Cellular option does not appear or does not activate, connect the terminal to the Wi-Fi first and perform a configuration update. If no update is available, reboot the terminal.
Mews Terminal 1.0: V400m model
The V400m terminal can automatically switch to processing payments using a cellular connection when the Wi-Fi connection fails. SIM cards are activated automatically; no action is required.
