An automatic service charge in Mews POS can help you increase revenue, compensate staff fairly and reduce errors. Administrators can add a service charge automatically to the cart in Mews POS based on parameters they configure. For example, when there are more than 6 guests. They do this by configuring the service charge from the Mews POS web dashboard. If required, wait staff can easily remove the automatically added service charge from the cart when they review the order.
Note: To add service charge automatically to the cart in the application, you need to enable the open checks option.
To create an automatic service charge from the Mews POS web dashboard:
- Click Settings > Outlets.
- Click an outlet from the list to select it.
- Click EDIT.
- Under the AUTOMATIC SURCHARGE, add a description, for example, Surcharge. Note: The system displays this on the invoice.
- Select the type of service charge in the drop-down menu and:
- Enter the amount for the fixed amount or
- Enter the percentage, the system calculates the percentage from the total amount in the cart.
- Enter the number of minimum persons you want the system to automatically add the service charge to the cart for.
- Click SAVE.
This creates the automatic service charge.
