When you receive an email that appears to be from Mews, it is important to confirm its authenticity before taking any action. There is a possibility that it is a phishing email. Phishing emails can look very convincing and may trick you into sharing sensitive information or clicking on unsafe links. To help you identify whether an email is really from Mews, follow the steps below to recognize common signs of fraudulent emails and help protect your account.
In this article, you can learn about how to check if an email from Mews is authentic, in the following steps:
- Step 1: Check the sender’s email address
- Step 2: Analyze the email content
- Step 3: Review links and attachments carefully
- Step 4: Check the recipient list
- Step 5: Contact Mews Support if you’re unsure
Step 1: Check the sender’s email address
- Open the email and look carefully at the sender’s complete email address.
- Verify that the sender’s domain is “@mews.li” or "@mews.com". If the email uses a public domain like “@gmail.com” or “@hotmail.com,” or includes slight misspellings, it is a scam.
- Compare the sender’s address to the addresses in emails you know are authentic, if available.
Note: Mews uses only “@mews.li” or "@mews.com" for official security communications. If the domain looks different, treat it with caution.
Step 2: Analyze the email content
- Look out for language that creates a sense of urgency, such as threats to suspend your account or demands for immediate action.
- Review the email for spelling and grammar errors. Mews personnel carefully review all official Mews communications and should not contain obvious mistakes.
- Be suspicious of any email requesting personal information, such as your password, payment details, or sensitive business data.
Note: Mews never asks you to provide personal information or login credentials via email.
Step 3: Review links and attachments carefully
- To confirm that the link directs to an official Mews domain, for example, mews.com, hover over any links in the email without clicking to see the full URL.
- Do not click on unfamiliar or shortened links.
- Avoid opening unexpected attachments, especially those labeled as invoices or contracts, especially if you were not expecting them.
Note: If you are not sure about the content of the email, it is safer not to open any links or files and contact Mews Support, or your account administrator immediately.
Step 4: Check the recipient list
- Verify whether the email addresses you specifically and not multiple recipients or, whether your email address appears in the blind carbon copy (Bcc) field.
- If the email addresses a large group of people or uses generic greetings such as “Dear Customer,” it’s usually an indication of a scam.
Step 5: Contact your system administrator or Mews Support if you’re unsure
- If you are uncertain whether an email is genuine, do not respond to it or click on any links.
- Report the email to the Mews Support Team or your system administrator for verification.
- Delete the email from your inbox and empty your trash folder.
Note: Taking these steps helps minimize risks, but no system is completely foolproof. Always remain vigilant when handling emails.
