How to check the status of a sent email in Mews Operations

To verify if the emails sent via Mews reached your guests, you can check their status on the Mail queue. The Mail queue in Mews shows the status of all mail items within the last 3 months sent from Mews Operations, and only users with admin rights or the View and manage mail queue items employee permission can access them. Mews only stores mail items in the mail queue for a maximum of 3 months.

To check the status of a sent email in Mews Operations:

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu Menu arrow right  > Queues > Emails.
  2. Enter the details for the email you want to find.
  3. Click OK.
  4. In the updated screen, find the email and locate the Status column. Here, you can find the following email statuses:
    • Processed: The server received the message and is preparing it for delivery. Each email triggers a processed event.
    • Success: Mews successfully sent the email to the recipient.
    • Dropped: Mews could not deliver the email to the recipient's email server. This can be due to an invalid email address or the recipient has unsubscribed from an email in the past.
    • Delivered: The recipient's email server has received the message. It is still possible that the recipient does not receive the email, for example, if they have their own spam filter.
    • Deferred: The email is unsent, but the server continuously tries to deliver it for 72 hours.
    • Bounced: The recipient's email server has refused delivery of the message or does not recognize the address and returned it to the original sender. A bounced email means that your message has not been delivered. Note: If the email status is bounced, you must contact your internet provider to fix it. There is no action to be taken on Mews' side as the email was successfully sent.
    • Opened: The recipient opened the email at least once.
    • Failed: Mews could not reach the recipient's email server due to issues on the recipient’s side. A failed email means that your message could not be delivered either due to an incorrect email address or the receiving email server blocking the delivery. The problem lies outside of Mews and would require the recipient to review their email settings or infrastructure.
