In Mews Channel Manager, you can disable or delete a channel at any time. This can be a temporary pause while you manage a rate issue, a seasonal decision to close a channel for a few weeks, or a permanent decision to move away from a channel altogether. When you disable a channel, the system keeps your credentials, mapping, and settings. Rates and availability stop syncing to the channel while it is disabled. You can re-enable the channel later without setting it up again. When you delete a channel, the system removes the channel from your Channels screen and deletes your credentials, mapping, and settings. To sell on the channel again, you must set it up again from the beginning.

How to disable a channel in Mews Channel Manager
- In Mews Operations, go to the main menu
> Revenue > Tools > Channels.
- Click the channel you want to disable.
- In the side-window, under Disable connection, click Disable.
- Enter a reason for disabling.
- Click Disable again to confirm.
Once you disable a channel, the channel status changes on the Channels screen and on the Channel status widget. Mews stops sending new rates, availability, and restrictions to the channel. You can enable it again by clicking Enable.
Alternatives to disabling
Before you disable a channel, you can also consider:
- Closing availability on specific dates. If you only want to stop selling on the channel for a short period, for example, an event weekend, set availability to zero on those dates instead. The channel stays connected and resumes selling automatically afterwards.
- Add restrictions. A minimum length of stay or a closed-to-arrival restriction can slow down bookings on a channel without cutting it off entirely.
- Adjust the rate modification factor. A higher factor lowers your competitiveness on the channel without pausing it. See Using the rate modification factor in Mews Channel Manager.
Disable and delete are the right tools for longer-term or permanent decisions. For short-term adjustments, you can use the alternatives above.
How to delete a channel in Mews Channel Manager
To delete a channel:
- In Mews Operations, go to the main menu
> Revenue > Tools > Channels.
- Click the channel you want to delete.
- Open the channel's actions and select Delete.
- Click Delete again to confirm.
Once you delete it, the channel is removed from your Channels screen, and your credentials, mapping, and channel settings are cleared. To sell on the channel again, you must set it up again from the beginning.
Note: Deleting a channel does not remove your account on the channel's own extranet. Your listing continues to exist on the channel side. If you want to close your account with the channel, you do that on the channel's extranet directly.
What happens to active channel bookings if I disable or delete a channel
Disabling or deleting a channel does not cancel or affect bookings the channel has already sent. Existing reservations remain in Mews and continue to check in, check out, and pay as normal.
