Mews automatically blocks logins into the system that appear to be compromised. This is to prevent malicious entities from gaining control of your account. This malicious login or Account Take Over, also known as ATO, is a type of security incident where malicious entities gain access to user accounts using stolen credentials, phishing attempts or other fraudulent tactics. Once inside, the entities misuse the account for unauthorized transactions, data theft or other malicious activities. Mews identifies as malicious any logins coming from a different device or IP address than the one associated with the user.
When Mews suspects an Account Take Over login, the system blocks the login and displays the following 503 error page. Legitimate users can log into their account by following the instructions below.
- Wait 2 minutes and login again.
- If you are still unable to log in, contact Mews Support, with a screenshot of the error page and mention that your login was flagged as an Account Take Over risk.
The Mews Security team then manually verifies and restores access to your Mews account. This can take around 10 minutes.
