You can monitor logins to your Mews account with device authentication in Mews. The device authentication feature in Mews sends you an email alert whenever there’s a login to your Mews account from an unfamiliar device or location. This keeps you informed about your account activity and protects your information from malicious activity.
You can receive a device authentication email when you:
- Login from a new device or browser.
- Login from a new location.
After authenticating your device, if you continue using the same device and work from the same location, you don’t receive the email again. However, if you change your location, time zone, or device, you receive the email again to confirm your login.
Note: This feature is available to all users and retains data for 90 days of inactivity.

FAQs on device authentication email alerts
In the following section you can find answers to common questions or issues you may encounter using the device authentication feature for Mews.
You can also learn more about the new device email here, and the new location email here.
- Why is the location shown on the email different from where I’m logging in?
The location showing on the email you receive may be different from your exact address due to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) location. This difference can be significant, even several kilometers, depending on the distance between your actual location and the web server. If you are using a VPN, this can also affect the authentication feature and can result in a different location showing on the email.
- Why did I receive the device authentication email again?
If you continue using the same device and logging in from the same location, you should not receive the email again. However, if you change your location, time zone, or device, you receive the email again to confirm your login. If the device and time match the time you logged into Mews, you do not need to take action.
However, if the Time, Device, and Location are completely different from what you expect, we recommend you immediately reset your Mews password and contact your system administrator.
