Mapping your Booking.com direct channel manager integration means linking your Booking.com room types and rates to their matching categories and rates in Mews. As a property employee setting up the integration, you do this to ensure availability, pricing, and reservation data sync correctly between Booking.com and Mews Operations. You complete this process during your property's onboarding or when updating your channel setup. You manage the mapping using the Booking.com Extranet and the Mews Operations integration settings.
For example, you have a "Standard Double" room in both Booking.com and Mews. If a customer books this room on Booking.com, the mapping informs the system to create a booking for this exact room in Mews.
Prerequisites
Most setup steps take place the day before your Go Live date but reviewing them in advance helps ensure a smooth transition.
Before you start mapping your Booking.com integration:
In your Booking.com Extranet,
1. In your Booking.com Extranet, find your Property ID
2. Go to Your Profile > Connectivity Provider
3. Select Mews as your Channel Manager.
4. Check the Extranet access box to allow Mews to accept the connection.
In Mews Operations,
1. Set all payment automations in Mews to Manual. Learn more in our help article How to create a payment policy in Mews Operations. Note: If you import prepaid reservations and automations are active, Mews attempts to take payments again.
2. Under General settings, uncheck the option to Send payment failed email. Learn more in our help article Setting up your property account. Note: This helps avoid confusion during import and prevents unnecessary emails to guests.
Note:
- After you select Mews as your Channel Manager, the system sends your connection request to Mews. The connection is not active at this stage. A Mews team member needs to manually confirm the connection in your Mews account.
- On your Go Live date, disconnection from your old PMS happens automatically on completion of the above step,
- If you are not connected to another PMS, go to Step 1.
Step 1: Set up in Mews

Note: Do not enable the integration yet.
To configure your general Booking.com integration settings:

- Notification email: Enter an email address to receive notifications such as mapping errors. Note: This does not include reservations.
Step 4: Enable Operations

Before enabling the integration, set up your operations. These actions happen automatically once you enable the integration's general settings.
- Download future reservations: Imports existing upcoming bookings from Booking.com. Note:
- Keep disabled until testing is complete.
- Download mappings: Imports Extranet rates and room codes into Mews for easy mapping.
- Download reservations: Fetches new reservations from Booking.com after you go live.

Step 5: Configure Additional Options
Note: You must delete all restrictions set up in Booking.com before you continue. If restrictions remain in Booking.com, Mews cannot override them.
Pay close attention to:
- Apply cancellation fee: Uses the policy set in Mews.
- Create reservation from modification push: Ensures that the integration creates new reservations when bookings in Booking.com get modified.
- Enable more granular reporting: Do not enable.
- Use age category in inventory: Enable this only if age categories are set up correctly in Booking.com. If they are not set up correctly, untick this option to avoid the following errors,
- reservations do not include the right age categories.
- the system triggers an INVALID_GUEST_AGE_BAND_ID error in the channel manager queue. There is more information about this in the testing step.
- Use age category in reservations: If enabled, ensure you map age categories.
Other Settings
- Integration Key: Only needed if instructed. Note: Do not confuse this with the CHM code.
- Pricing: Choose Gross (VAT included) or Net (VAT excluded). Ensure same configuration across Mews, Extranet, and this setting. Note: You cannot update Pricing once you enable the integration.
- Last Inventory Update: Checks connection status.
Step 6: Map Room Categories
Step 6: Map Room Categories
Mews calculates and displays your space availability in Mews Operations and across distribution channels according to your existing space categories.
After you create a bookable service, you can then create the necessary space categories, for example, “Standard rooms”, “Deluxe rooms”, “Studios”, to organize your spaces by type, ensuring accurate availability, pricing, and occupancy data. Learn more in our help article How to create a space category in Mews Operations.
To sync your room types between Mews and Booking.com, you need to map your space categories to the corresponding room types listed in the Booking.com Extranet. To do so,
1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu > Marketplace > Booking.com integration > Channel manager categories > + Add rooms.
2. For each room type you want to map:
- Space Category Code: Copy the code from your Booking.com Extranet.
- Select Matching Category: Choose the corresponding space category in Mews from the dropdown.
2. Click Sync to send availability and restrictions for that room type to Booking.com.
