Setting up your property account

You need to set up your property account in Mews Operations with the correct information for your business, so that your Mews account is correctly configured with, for example, property name, address, currency, card data retention policy, and more. Correctly configuring your property account is necessary to effectively manage your business operations, guest experience and payments policy. Setting up your property account

To set up your property account in Mews Operations:

  1. Go to the main menu  > Settings > Property. In the General settings section, update all relevant fields. The fields marked with an asterisk are mandatory.

General settings:

  • Identifier: An identifying number associated with this specific property for internal use within Mews.
  • Subscription: An identifying number associated with this specific property for internal use within Mews.
  • Chain: The chain your property belongs to. Note: This field is not editable.
  • Name: Enter the name of your property.
  • Unique name: Enter the name of your property without spaces and in lowercase, for example, enter "grandmews" if the name of your property is Grand Mews. Note: The system uses this in the link it emails to customers with their login details.
  • Type*: Select your property type.
  • Email: Enter an email address that customers can send general inquiries to.
  • Product champion email: Enter the email address you want Mews to use for important system notifications. For example, when there is an outage, and Mews needs to communicate this quickly.
  • Telephone: Enter a telephone number, including country code. that customers can call.
  • Website URL*: Enter the URL for your property's website. Note: You must include https:// at the beginning of the URL.
  • TripAdvisor ID: Enter your TripAdvisor ID number. When you enter your ID number, Mews automatically includes the TripAdvisor link in the After check-out email. Note: You can find your ID number in the TripAdvisor page of your Enterprise.
  • City*: Select the city of your property's location. Mews Online Guest Services can then include city maps and guides as part of the guest services. 
  • Postal code: Enter the postal code of your property's location.: 
  • Country*: From the drop down select the country of your property's location. 
  • State/Province: From the drop down select the state/ province of your property's location.  
  • Latitude and Longitude: Enter the latitude and longitude for more precise mapping of your location. You can use latlong.net or Google maps to find these.
  • Operational editable history window: Choose how far back in time your staff can modify operations in Mews Operations, such as room blocks, reservations, and service orders.
  • Card data retention policy period: Enter the period, in days, after which Mews automatically clears the customer's payment card information. You can learn more about configuring your card data retention policy here.
  • Options: When you select,
    • Automatic resource profile unassignment: Choose this option to enable automatic removal of previous housekeeping assignees to each space at midnight. This clears your Space status report of current assignees at midnight. 
    • Send automatic settlement failed email: Mews sends this email to the reservation owner, i.e. the main guest in the reservation or the booker, when automatic settlement fails, either because a card is not attached to the reservation or the attached card fails for some reason.
    • Send payment failed email: Mews sends this email to the customer who made the payment, when an online (Mews Payments) payment fails for any reason. 

Note: Mews doesn't send these emails if the card is virtual.

After completing the General settings section, open the Globalization section below it and update all relevant fields:

Globalization:

  • Time zone: The time zone of your property's location. If this information isn't correct, contact Mews support.
  • Legal environment: The country of location of your property. Your legal environment determines the taxation and accounting rules for your property. If this information isn't correct, contact Mews support.
  • Default currency: The currency that your property uses, by default. If this information isn't correct, contact Mews support. 
  • Default language: Choose the default language you want to use in communications with customers. Note: Mews uses this language only in customer communications if there is no language specified in the customer's profile.
  • Default culture: Choose your culture to determine how Mews formats dates, times, and calendar weeks.

After completing the Globalization section, open the Subscription section below it and update all relevant fields:

Subscription:

  • Code: An identifying number associated with this specific property for internal use.
  • Email: Enter your email address to send invoices from Mews. 
  • First name: Enter the first name of the responsible party that invoices from Mews should be addressed to.
  • Last name: Enter the last name of the responsible party that invoices from Mews should be addressed to.
  • Company: Enter the official name of the company to include on all invoices from Mews.
  • Tax identifier: Enter your property's unique tax ID number to use.
  • Find address by typing here: Enter the address to send invoices to. Enter your property's address manually or use the search function to choose the appropriate one. Mews then automatically populates your address in the remaining address fields below.   
  1. Click Save
Your property account is now set up.
