Whether you are setting up your property for the first time or joining a team using Mews, you need to set up your user account. Mews sends an email to you after your employer creates your user account. This email contains instructions for setting up your account.

To set up your user account in Mews Operations:
- Check your email account for the email Mews sends on creation of your user account. If you don't see the email:
- Check your Spam or Bulk mail folders.
- Add @mews.com to your address book.
- Open the email and click on the link there to choose a secure password for your account. Note: The password needs to be at least 8 characters with one of them lower case, one upper case and a number.
- Once you sign in, click the user icon at the top right:
- Then click
.
- Update your personal information, including First name, Last name, and all mandatory fields, marked with an asterisk*.
- Click Save.
Note: If you want to create Mews login credentials for an external person such as your auditor, you can create a user account for them and follow these same instructions to set up their account.
Set up your PIN
You can also set up a PIN code to unlock your account faster.
To set up your PIN in Mews Operations:
- Click the user icon at the top right:
- Click
Account.
- Click the Privacy and security tab. This opens the following screen:
- Under PIN, click the slider switch. Follow the instructions on the screen. Note: You need to enter your password before adding a PIN for extra security. You can learn more about setting up pin access to your Mews account here.
- Click Create.
This sets up and enables PIN access for your account.
To ensure maximum security of your Mews user accounts, the system enforces two-factor authentication (2FA) as mandatory for all Mews accounts. This adds an extra layer of security. After you set it up, you need to sign into your account in two steps using:
- your Mews password, and
- a link sent via email, OR
- an authentication code.

Troubleshooting Two-Factor Authentication with Google Authenticator
Mews officially supports Google Authenticator as the authenticator tool for managing 2FA codes. If you encounter issues when using it, use this section for guidance on troubleshooting common problems with Google Authenticator. For example, if you lost your phone or someone stole it, or you are unable to scan the QR code, or not receiving the 2FA code, or if you are facing synchronization issues.
