Receive reservations using the SynXis direct channel manager integration for Mews Operations

The SynXis channel manager integration provides global distribution of your property's rates and availability, direct from Mews Operations. This integration is a two-way connection, meaning that Mews Operations manages availability, rates, and restrictions, while SynXis sends reservations into Mews Operations.

Mews does not send reservations to SynXis.

Note

  • If you're already live with Mews, Mews does not configure the entire channel manager integration for you. If you have any problems fixing the mapping errors within Mews Operations, contact the Mews support team to help you troubleshoot.
  • You need to contact your SynXis account manager to request a connection with Mews Operations before connecting this integration.
  • Co-ordinate your next steps with your SynXis account manager. On average, transfers and testing occur between 45 and 70 days after you first contact your SynXis account manager.
  • If you're already using an existing interface, you need to talk to your provider for de-implementation.

  2. Under Categories, click Distribution.
  3. Locate the SynXis integration and click Explore.

  1. In the list of integrations, find SynXis and click Edit.
  2. Enter the SynXis credentials and CRS ID.
  3. Click Save.

Step 2: Configure the SynXis integration and mapping

Note

Where do I get the documentation for mapping?
You receive your SynXis mapping file from your SynXis account manager. This file includes all necessary PMS codes for room types, rates, and products.

What should I map?
You must map all items listed in the SynXis mapping file, including:

  • Space categories (room types)
  • Rates
  • Products charged per night or per person per night

These codes must match exactly between Mews and SynXis.

Which options should I select in the SynXis Mews Marketplace integration?

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu > Marketplace > My subscriptions.
  2. Click Edit on the SynXis integration.
  3. Under Enabled operations, select:
    • Upload availability
    • Upload rates
    • Upload restrictions
    • Download reservations
    • Push occupancy-based prices
  4. Do not select Change password unless instructed.
  5. Under Options, click to select:
    • Create company and travel agency profiles
  6. Click Save.

Common setup mistakes

  • Breakfast mapping: If you add breakfast as a separate product in Mews while it is already included in the SynXis rate, the guest sees the charge twice.
To avoid this, include breakfast in the rate configuration in SynXis, then map it in Mews as a packaged product linked to that rate.
If you want to offer breakfast as an optional add-on, do not package it. Instead, create a product rule that adds it only when a specific rate is selected.
  • City tax setup: Mews does not automatically apply city tax unless you create it as a product. If the rate in SynXis includes city tax, add a city tax product in Mews and package it with the correct rate. If the tax is excluded from the SynXis rate, create a separate city tax product in Mews and ensure it is triggered correctly using a product rule or mapped to a rate. Without this setup, the tax amount may be missing from the guest bill or duplicated in the total.

Standalone products

Note: You need to contact SynXis support to get your product codes.

Map companies and travel agency contracts

Use the codes from SynXis when you set up travel agency profiles and contracts. You can use travel agency mapping to the GDS, OTA, or smaller travel agency attached to your incoming reservations. You can learn more about travel agency mapping here.

Step 3: Test the integration

Contact your SynXis account manager and your current channel manager to schedule the transfer to Mews Operations. SynXis guides you through the testing process and confirms what information to send during the test.

Do not enable the integration during testing. Only enable individual operations. If you enable the integration too early, Mews sends all availability, rates, and restrictions for approximately three years. This delays the testing process and can lead to incorrect data being synced.

During the test, SynXis makes various edits including, changes to dates, add or remove guests, and cancel the reservation. After each action, check that the changes appear correctly in Mews.
