Mews Terminal A3 is a guided check in terminal that centralizes front desk workflows on a single wide display and creates a more efficient and visually engaging check-in experience. You use the terminal at your reception desk to manage guest interactions and process secure payments in Mews Operations. You set up the terminal when you receive a new device and want to start using it to support daily front desk operations at your property.
Mews Terminal A3 includes:

How to set up your Mews Terminal A3
Prerequisites for the setup
To use Mews Terminal A3, you need:
- Mews Operations
- Mews Payments active on your Mews account and configured with Adyen. Note: If Mews Payments is not active on your account, contact your Customer Success Manager.
- At least one Mews Terminal A3, you can purchase this via the Mews Marketplace by searching for Mews Terminal A3. Note: You can also contact your Customer Success Manager to purchase.
Step 1: Check the packaging and the terminal for damage
When you receive the terminal:
- Verify that the shipping box is unopened and the security seal is intact.
- Open the box.
- Verify that the serial number on the terminal matches the serial number on the box, and that it matches the serial number in Mews. To verify the serial number:
- In Mews Operations, go to the main menu [icon] > Marketplace.
- Find the Mews Payments - Terminals integration and click Edit to go to the Settings page.
- Under Payment terminals, you can find the serial number.
- Use the track and trace link to confirm that the carrier marks the terminal as delivered.
- Inspect the terminal for tampering. Check for missing screws, additional wires or labels, holes in the device, or anything inserted into or attached to the terminal.
If any of these checks fail, contact Mews Support immediately and do not use the terminal.
Step 2: Turn on the terminal and prepare the device
To turn on the terminal:
- Connect the terminal to a power source.
- If you use Wi-Fi, connect the power adapter to the terminal and to a power source.
- If you use Ethernet, connect the power cable to the Ethernet to USB C dongle and to a power source, then connect the dongle to the terminal and connect the Ethernet cable.
- During startup the display may turn on and off a few times.
Note: When you turn on the terminal for the first time or after a long period without power, the device synchronizes its configuration and updates the software. This process takes up to 20 minutes.
Step 3: Connect the terminal to your network
You connect the terminal to the internet so it can communicate with the payments platform.
To connect to Wi-Fi:
- On the terminal display, tap Configure network.
- Tap Wi-Fi.
- Tap the Wi-Fi switch to enable it.
- Tap + to add a network.
- Choose your network from the list and enter the password, or add the network manually by entering the network name and password.
- Tap the check mark to confirm.
The terminal connects to the network and displays a Wi-Fi icon at the top of the screen.
To connect using Ethernet:
- Connect the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet to USB C dongle.
- Connect the dongle to the terminal.
- Connect the power cable to a power source.
The terminal connects to the network automatically.
Step 4: Test the connection
To test the connection with the payments platform:
- On the Mews Terminal, tap Settings and then Diagnostics.
- Tap PSP connection.
- Check that the status shows Successful.
- Tap View results and confirm that all items show a green check mark.
Note: If Receiving data displays a red cross and the result displays No Error, the terminal connects successfully to the platform.
To test the connection with Mews Operations:
- On the Mews Terminal, tap Settings and then Diagnostics.
- Tap Terminal Application Programming Interface.
- Check that the status shows Successful.
- Tap View results and confirm that all items show a green check mark.
- Go back to Diagnostics and tap Endpoints.
- Confirm that all tested addresses show a successful status.
When all tests show a successful status, you can process payments in Mews Operations.
Step 5: Rename your terminal
- in Mews Operations, go to the main menu [icon] > Marketplace.
- Find the Mews Terminals integration and click Edit to go to the Settings page. The system displays a list of terminals with the serial numbers.
- Click a serial number and enter a name for the terminal, for example, Front Office 1,
- Click Save.
This completes the setup of your Mews Terminal A3. You can now take payments and use Mews POS on the terminal.
