Troubleshooting slow systems in Mews POS

Occasionally if Mews POS operates at a slow speed, it could be due to several factors including cookies, internet connection, and more. Before reaching out to Mews Support, you can try the steps listed in this article to troubleshoot.

In this article, you can learn about:

Mews POS web dashboard

If you experience slow systems in the Mews POS web dashboard, you can try the following steps.

Step 1: Check specific screens

If you are working on a data heavy task, such as loading a large sales report, the system slows as it loads and displays the requested information. This is normal behavior. Check if the system is only slow while requesting this information, or if it is slow on all screens.

Step 2: Clear cookies

If you try the above steps and nothing changes, clear your cookies and cache. The exact steps depend on your browser. To clear cookies and cache in Chrome, follow these steps.

Mews POS Android app

If you experience slow application performance on your Android device, you can try the following steps.

Step 1: Update the Mews POS Android app

It is recommended that you always use the most up to date version of the Mews POS Android app as updates can upgrade performance.

To update the app, follow these steps.

Step 2: Clear application data

Clearing the Mews POS Application data resolves various issues. Note: Clearing the application data signs out all users on the device, and all users must sign in again with their username and password.

To clear the application data on your Android device:

  1. Open the Settings app on your Android device.
  2. Tap Apps & notifications or Apps Menu.
  3. Tap See all apps or Installed Applications.
  4. Find the Mews POS app, and tap its listing.
  5. Tap Storage or move to the Storage Tab.
  6. Tap Clear storage, Clear data, or Clear App Data. This permanently deletes all app data.

Note: These instructions may differ depending on the device used.

Both Mews POS web dashboard and Mews POS Android app

If both the Mews POS web dashboard and the Mews POS Android app operate slowly. It can indicate an issue with Mews infrastructure or your internet connection.

Step 1: Check your internet speed

Mews POS is a data heavy web application, but it has a similar performance to other data heavy web applications such as Facebook or LinkedIn. You can open those apps to ensure that the problem is not due to your internet connection.

Fluctuations in connection quality can cause internet connections to slow down. You can run an internet speed check on this website. If your speed is lower than you expect, contact your ISP for advice.

Step 2: Check the Mews POS Status page

The Mews POS Status page, is where Mews reports all outages as soon as possible. If there is a system problem, Mews communicates updates via this page to deliver an update to all users at the same time.

Step 3: Check the system status

If you are experiencing a complete system outage, you can check this website. Enter the website address where you are experiencing problems and see if the system is down for all users or just you.
