Why does Mews require the "Legal email"?

Mews requires a legal email address from enterprises.

This is so that properties can authorize Mews through this email:

• For the addition of a new enterprise, and
• Specify that the chain approves of the data sharing that will exist.

Enterprises that are a part of the same Mews chain can share client and company data. If these two separate entities do not wish to share their data with each other, this raises queries related to GDPR compliance. 

In this context, the following terms have these definitions: 

• Mews chain: A hierarchical organization of properties using Mews in consenting data-sharing clusters 
• Enterprise: An individual property or business using the Mews Hospitality Cloud suite of products 
• GDPR: The General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679, a legal regulation concerning data protection and privacy in the European Union and the European Economic Area. It also addresses the transfer of personal data outside the EU and EEA areas. 

When installing a new enterprise into an existing chain, or for enterprises that need to update their “Legal email” address, the Mews team needs to fill in the "Legal email" in the enterprise’s settings. This allows Mews to obtain confirmation that the enterprise authorizes a new enterprise to share the data in the chain. 

In order to effectively communicate with legal representatives at every Mews chain, the “Legal email” is a requirement, which the Mews team needs to update whenever chains are built for the first time and when a chain does not have an updated email address.
