How to assign product categories to an outlet printer in Mews POS

You can print specific product categories on a dedicated printer to connect menu or inventory items directly to bar or kitchen printer. Administrators can set up the order printer to print only relevant items at each location from the Mews POS web dashboard. This avoids unnecessary printouts, such as preventing cocktail orders from printing at the kitchen printer. When you assign categories correctly you control which products each printer receives, preventing errors and improving staff workflow. This ensures your staff can focus on the products they are responsible for providing to guests.

To assign categories to an outlet printer, from the Mews POS web dashboard:

  1. Click Settings.
  2. Click Outlets.
  3. Locate the outlet you want to configure, then click the name. The outlet side panel appears.
  4. Click EDIT.
  5. Scroll down to the PRINTERS section.
  6. Locate the printer you want to assign categories to and click EDIT. The Edit printer pop-up appears. Note: If there are no printers on the list, add a new printer and set up the printer preferences.
  7. Under Categories, click the categories you want to assign to this printer. For example, Breakfast and Food for the Restaurant printer. Note: On your keyboard, hold down CTRL on Windows or on Mac to select multiple options.
