The City Tax Report displays the amount of city tax applied to your reservations within a selected time period using the fixed city tax feature. You can use the report to ensure compliance with local tax regulations and manage accurate financial reporting.

 

Note: You can only access and use the report in Mews Operations if you use the fixed city tax feature.

 

To view the City Tax report in Mews Operations, go to the main menu   > Finance > City tax report.

Setting the filters in the report

You can refine the data in this report with the following filters:  

  • Mode: Click to select the report display.
    • Detailed: View the city tax applied by reservation and date.
    • Totals: View the total city tax value applied by date.
  • Start: Click to select a start date to view results of a specific time period.
  • End: Click to select an end date to view results of a specific time period.
  • Values: Click to select the amounts to view in the report.
    • Gross value: View the amounts including tax.
    • Net value: View the amounts excluding tax.
    • Tax value: View only the tax amount applied.  

Click on View report to view the report after adjusting the filters. 

 

Understanding the fields in the city tax report

The report displays the following fields: 

  • Date: The date the city tax applies to. 
  • Reservation: The reservation to which the city tax applies. You can click on a reservation to open its Reservations management screen. Note: In the Totals mode, the report displays the number of reservations for which Mews applied city tax on each date. 
  • Person count: The number of guests for each reservation and date. 
  • Count: The number of nights the city tax applies. Mews counts the nights for every guest on a reservation. For example, for a reservation with two guests, the column displays “2”. Note: In the Totals mode, Count values can vary from the Person count values. For example, for a three nights reservation with only one guest, the Count displays the value of “3” for one person. 
  • Excluded person count: The number of guests exempted from the city tax.  
  • Average rate: The reservation’s nightly cost. Note: In Totals mode, you can view the average cost for all reservations on a certain date. 
  • Average person rate: The average cost of a reservation per person. 
  • City tax: The amount of city tax your guests paid for the selected dates. 

 

Exporting the report  

 To export the City tax report: 

  1. Click on Export.
  2. Click on Export to Excel to export to an Excel sheet. 
 

You can also click on Create export schedule to schedule a report export.
