How to notify Mews about an upcoming tax change

When you know about an upcoming tax law change in your country or region, for example, a VAT or a city tax change, you can contact Mews Support to ensure Mews adds this change for your compliance. Compliance with tax laws is vital to avoid penalties, maintain guest trust, and ensure financial accuracy. It is important to notify Mews of tax changes as early as possible to ensure the team can process the request before the deadline.

Note:

  • If a new tax rate is necessary, Mews cannot make that tax rate available until the day the new tax rate comes into effect.
  • If you use city tax as a product, you need to notify Mews Support after you update the tax for the product. You can learn how to handle city tax changes here.

To inform Mews about a tax change, you can submit a support ticket or speak to a live agent in Mews Operations using the Mews Digital Assistant:

  1. In Mews Operations, click the customer-success-24  Help / Contact us icon on the top right of the screen.
  2. In the chat, type “I'd like to open a support ticket to inform Mews about upcoming tax updates in [your location].” Replace [your location] with the relevant location name, for example, “I’d like to open a support ticket to inform Mews about 2024/25 tax updates in Huesca, Spain.”
  3. Answer the questions.
  4. Provide specific details, for example, effective date. For faster processing, include links to official legal references, if available.

Once you submit the request, the system creates a relevant ticket.
