How to create a promotion in Mews POS

Promotions can help you attract new customers, reward loyalty, and boost your sales effectively. You can create promotions in Mews POS with your administrator user account via the web dashboard. Promotions work when guests order via order & pay, and when wait staff input order details within the Mews POS Android app.

 

In Mews POS you can create promotions such as:

• Set menu promotions for multiple course menus.
• Promotions that automatically apply within a given time frame. Note: You can learn how to configure this here.
• “Buy two, get one free” style promotions. For example, the customer buys three items from the list and gets the cheapest item at a discount or for free.
• Promotions that apply to certain customer groups only.

 

To create a promotion from the Mews POS web dashboard:

1. Click Products.
2. Click Promotions.
3. Click .
4. In the New promotion side-window, enter the following fields:
• Name: Enter the name of the promotion.
• Promotion Type: Click the drop-down to select the promotion type.
• Fixed price: Mews POS charges a fixed price for this promotion, for example, buy two for the price of €5.
• Discount: Mews POS deducts either a fixed price or a percentage, for example, get €3 off cheese,or get 15% off cheese. You can configure this discount in the Discount type field.
• Cheapest discount: Mews POS deducts either a fixed price or a percentage from the cheapest of multiple items. For example, buy two items and get €3 off the cheapest, or buy two items and get 15% off the cheapest.
• Cheapest free: The guest receives the cheapest of multiple items for free.
• Discount type: Click the drop-down to select either a price discount or a percentage discount. Note: The system displays this option only for Discount and Cheapest discount promotion types.
• Price/Percentage: Enter the price  or the percentage for the discount.
• Starts at: Click  to select a start date if applicable.
• Ends at: Click  to select an end date if applicable.
  
  

5. Times: Enter the relevant details in the following fields:
• Time From: Click the drop-down to select the start time of the promotion.
• Time to: Click the drop-down to select the end time of the promotion.
• Day: Click a day to activate the promotion during the period you configured for the selected day. Note: You can press control on Windows or command on iOS and click multiple days to select them.
6. Optionally, click  to add an additional day and time period.
   
   

7. Customer groups: Optionally, click the drop-down to select which customer groups the promotion should apply to.
8. Select groups: Enter the following fields:

1. Name: Enter the name of the product group the guest must select for the promotion to apply. Note: This is visible to guests within order & pay and by staff within the Mews POS Android app.
2. Count: Enter the quantity of items the guest must select while ordering for the promotion to apply.
3. Products: Click the drop-down to select where Mews POS applies the promotion:

1. 1. • Category: Mews POS applies the promotion to an entire product category, for example, beer.
      • Product: Mews POS applies the promotion to a single product.
      • Product variant: Mews POS applies the promotion to a single product variant.

4. Click the drop-down to the right of the Products drop-down to select a category, product or product variant. Note: When you complete this field, Mews POS creates an additional row of Product options.
5. Optionally, repeat steps III and IV for any additional products for this product group.
6. Optionally, click ADD GROUP to add another product group to the promotion.
7. Repeat steps I to V for any additional product groups. Note: You can click REMOVE GROUP to delete a product group.
   
   

1. Description: At the bottom of the New Promotion side window, Mews POS automatically generates a description of the promotion. This ensures the promotion you configure is correct.
2. Click SAVE.

 

You have now configured a time and date-based promotion in Mews POS. You can deactivate the promotion at any time by clicking the Active slider switch.

 

When guests or staff add relevant items to the cart during the promotional period, Mews POS calculates the discount automatically.
