How to create a table layout in Mews POS

Table layouts in Mews POS are a vital function of table management. Table layouts are a representation of your restaurant, bar, or other serving space. They display the tables you have and how many people those tables accommodate. You can create table layouts from the Mews POS web dashboard. They appear in the Mews POS Android app for use by wait staff. Wait staff use table layouts to seat guests and take orders.

 

To create a table layout from the Mews POS web dashboard:

  1. Click Settings.
  2. Click Layouts.
  3. Click
  4. Complete the following:
    • Layout name: Enter a name for the layout, for example, Restaurant, Terrace.
    • Charge To Room: Click the slider switch to enable guests to charge orders to their room in this location. Note: This applies to order & pay only.
    • Layout Active: Click the slider switch to enable this table layout.
  5. Click Add Table to add a new table, additional table options appear:
    • Table Name: Enter a name for the  table.
    • Covers: Enter the quantity of people the table can seat.
  6. Repeat Step 5 to add additional tables.
  7. Click Save.

  1. In the Layouts window, click  on the created layout.The layout editor aids you in creating a visual representation of the serving area including tables and other physical elements such as bars, windows, columns, and stairs.

    Note: By default the layout editor displays your layout using several squares that represent tables, against a dark blue background which represents the space.

  2. Complete the following:
    • Layout name: Edit the layout name if needed.
    • Dimensions: Enter the room dimension amount in pixels. This changes the size of the dark blue background. Note: You use this to create a background which better represents the size and shape of the space.
  3. Click on one of the squares that represents a table or element, several options appear:
    • Click and drag on the table or element to move it within the space.
    • Click and drag  to rotate the table or element.
    • Click and drag  to resize the table or element.
  4. In the Element Properties side window:
    • Element label: Enter or edit the name of the table or element.
    • Element Type: Click the drop-down to select either rectangle or ellipse for the table or element shape.
    • Position X/Y: Enter the exact position for the table or element in pixels.
    • Dimensions Width/Height: Enter the exact size of the table or element in pixels.
    • Rotation: Enter the exact rotation of the table or element in degrees.
  5. In addition, you can use the following tools in the top panel:
    • Click A couple of arrows in a circleDescription automatically generated to rotate your current selected item.
    • Click  to resize the space to fit inside your current window.
    • Click A magnifying glass with a zoom outDescription automatically generated  to zoom in and out.
    • Click to resize the space to its original size.
    • Click to undo or redo an action.
    • Click  to delete the current selected item.
  6. Optionally, click  to add an additional element. You use this to represent areas of your space which are not tables.
  7. Complete Steps 10-13 for any additional tables or elements.
  8. Click  to save the table layout.
