Taking an order with Mews POS from the table layout

When your customer is ready to order, you can open the Mews POS app on your hand-held device and create the order in a few clicks. The system sends the order to the kitchen so that preparation can start.

 

You can take an order from your: 

  • table layout 
  • product list. You can learn more about creating an order from the product list here. 

 

Note 

  • To handle more than one order at a time, enable the open checks option in the Mews POS settings.  
  • To ensure the kitchen printer receives the order immediately, enable the Order printer option in the printer settings. 

 

To create an order in Mews POS app from your table layout: 

    1. Tap .
    2. From the table layout, choose the table for which you want to create the order.
    3. In the Table details screen, tap Open order for table. 

     

    1. This opens the Save open order screen. 

      • Mews POS automatically generates the order name. To customize it to a more suggestive name, such as ‘Table nr. 7’ or ‘VIP lounge order’ type the name in the Order name field. 
      • Enter the number of Covers. Note: If the number of covers equals or exceeds the 'minimum persons' defined for the service charge, the system adds the service charge to the cart.  
      • If you host your guest on your property, you can charge the order to their Room number. You can learn more about charging orders to your guest’s room here. 
      • You can add private notes to any product. Use these notes to share special requests or reminders with the kitchen staff. For example, add notes like "No mushrooms" or "Table 3 is a regular". Note: Order notes only print on kitchen receipts. They do not appear on guest invoices or other guest-facing documents. 

     

    1. To save the open order, tap Save.
    2. This opens your cart screen. Here, you can add products to your order. Note: If you use a smartphone, tap to go to the product list.
    3. On the Products screen, tap the Menus tab.

     

     

    1. Tap on a menu name to open it.
    2. The system displays the menu sections as tabs. Tap a section tab to view the menu items in that section.

     

     

    1. Tap on a menu item to add it to the order. Note: If you want to add the product multiple times, tap the product as many number of times. The system updates your cart to reflect the number of products you add to the order. 
    2. On the cart screen, check whether the order is correct. If your customer wants to add their information to the bill, you can tap Select a customer to select an existing customer or add new customer information. 
    3. Tap to send the order to the kitchen. 

     

     

    Once you create and place the order, you receive a printing status confirmation that Mews POS sent your order to the kitchen.
