How to manually charge orders to a room in Mews POS

Guests can choose to pay for their orders in the moment or defer and pay during check out instead. In this case, you can add their order to their room number manually or scan their NFC-enabled key card using the Mews POS application. This is useful for guests who only want to pay once instead of multiple times throughout their stay, and for staff who can then confirm guest information only once.

To manually charge an order to a guest’s room:

  1. Open your Mews POS app:
    • if you are charging an open order, tap Select a room, or
    • if you are charging an order during check out, go to the payment screen of the guest’s order.




  2. Tap Charge to room
  3. In the Find a room search field, enter the guest’s name, the room name, or room number, then tap SearchNote: You can also tap Scan guest’s key card and tap the guest’s keycard on your device. You can learn more about this option and how to enable it here.  
  4. Select the correct guest and tap Continue.



  5. To confirm the room charge, tap Charge



  6. The guest can now add a tip or tap Pay



  7. To authorize the charge, the guest needs to sign on the device’s screen and then tap Charge to room



  8. On the confirmation screen, you can choose to:
    • send the bill via SMS,
    • send the bill via e-mail, or 
    • print the bill. 
  9. Tap OK.

 

When the system confirms the payment, you receive an automatic confirmation message. Mews POS also displays the charge on the billing screen of your guest’s profile.
