If you use Mews as your property management system, your guests can add their food and beverage consumption to their rooms with their NFC-enabled key cards. The transaction is secure and reduces manual work for your staff.
You need to email Mews POS support at [email protected] to enable this option for all your NFC-enabled devices.
Note:
- To charge orders to your guest’s room using their contactless key cards, use devices with NFC capabilities, such as a smartphone. You need to enable NFC in your device settings.
- Mews POS currently only supports Onity, Salto, and VisiOnline key cutters.
To charge orders to your guest’s room using their NFC-enabled key card:
- In the payment screen of your guest’s order, tap Charge to room.
- Tap Scan guest’s key card, take your guest’s keycard, and tap on your device. Note: The Mews POS app reads the keycard’s serial number via NFC and searches for the guest’s reservation.
- Tap Charge.
- The guest can now add a tip or tap Pay.
- To authorize the charge, the guest needs to sign on the device’s screen and then tap Charge to room.
- On the confirmation screen, you can choose to:

- send the bill via SMS,
- send the bill via e-mail, or
- print the bill.
- Tap OK.
When the system confirms the payment, you receive an automatic confirmation message. Mews POS also displays the charge on the billing screen of your guest’s profile.
