How to charge a preauthorized card payment in Mews Operations

You can preauthorize a credit card in Mews Operations to temporarily hold funds for future charges—such as no-shows, deposits, or incidentals. This enables your property to secure payment for an upcoming reservation without charging the guest immediately. When you are ready to charge the preauthorized balance to a credit card, you can do so from the Payments section of a guest or company profile in Mews Operations.

 

To charge a preauthorized card payment:

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu > Profiles and click to select a customer or company profile.
  2. Click the Payments tab in the profile.

  3. From the Overview tab, scroll down to Preauthorizations and locate the preauthorization you want to charge.
  4. Click  from the Actions column, then click   Charge.

  5. Review the details in the Charge preauthorization side-window and click Submit to charge the Amount to the preauthorized card.

Note: Mews releases the preauthorization at the set expiration date or after seven days by default.
