Assign a central accounting category to properties in Mews Multi-Property

Once you create a central accounting category, you can assign it to properties across your portfolio. You can also unassign a category from a property at any time. Central accounting categories let you define and manage a consistent chart of accounts at the portfolio level.

Assign a category to properties

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu main menu > Accounting categories.

  1. Click the category row to open the detail panel, then go to the Properties tab.
  2. Click Assign.

  1. Select the properties you want to assign the category to. You can select up to 50 properties at a time.
  2. Click Assign to confirm.

Assignment processes in the background. The Properties tab shows one of the following statuses for each property.

 

Assignment statuses

  • Pending: The assignment is processing.
  • Active: The assignment is live.
  • Failed: The assignment did not complete. There are two reasons an assignment can fail:
    • The property has already reached the maximum of 300 accounting categories and cannot accept a new one.
    • A system error occurred on Mews' side. In this case, contact Mews customer support.

Unassign a category from a property

Note: You can only unassign a category from a property with an Active assignment status.

 

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu main menu > Accounting categories.

  1. Click the category row to open the detail panel, then go to the Properties tab.
  2. Click Unassign next to the property you want to remove.

  1. Confirm the action.

This unassigns the accounting category from the property.
