Assigning and configuring central products to properties in Mews Multi-Property helps you customize and manage product availability for individual or multiple properties. You can use this feature to align product offerings with specific property needs and guest preferences. You can perform this action via the Products section of Mews Multi-Property after creating your central products or when configuring products for properties.
To assign a central product to properties:
- In your portfolio account, go to the main menu
> Products.
- Find the central product you want to assign to a property and click
> Add to property, or check the box alongside the central product, then click Add to property.
- In the Add this product to properties dialog box that appears, click to select one or multiple properties to assign the central product to.
- Click Add.
- In the Configure the product for properties form, there are 5 sections. Fill in the following fields, those marked with * are mandatory:

Details section
Note: Mews applies the product details, language translations and product image to all selected properties. For example, if you set up French and English, all product details are available in both languages for all selected properties.
- Multilingual details: Click the dropdown to select languages you want to configure for your product. By clicking on the language tabs, you can enter translations for your product details.
- External name: Type to enter an external name for your product, this is visible to guests in the Mews Booking Engine, Mews Kiosk, Guest Portal and any other guest communications.
- Description: Type to enter a product description. this is visible to guests in the Mews Booking Engine, Mews Kiosk, Guest Portal and any other guest communications.
- Image: Click or drag an image file to this area to upload or click Choose file to add a property-specific image for guests. Note: If you do not select an image, Mews uses the image you added when creating the central product.
- Click Next.

Tax section
- Tax rate: Click to select the tax rate for each Tax environment. If you have multiple tax environments, you can select a tax rate per each option.
- Click Next.

Pricing section
- Net*: Type a number to set a base price for your product including tax in the property’s local currency. Note: When you enter a Net price, Mews automatically updates the Gross price by taking your configured Tax rate into account.
- Gross*: Type a number to set a base price for your product excluding tax in the property’s local currency. Note: When you enter a Gross price, Mews automatically updates the Net price by taking your configured Tax rate into account.
- Click Next.
Note: If you have multiple properties, you can configure product base pricing in bulk by checking the box alongside the properties to bulk configure, then type to enter a base price and click

Accounting section
- Accounting category: Click to select an accounting category for financial reporting of this product.
- Rebate accounting category: Click to select an accounting category for rebates of this product.
- Canceled item category: Click to select an accounting category for cancellations of this product.
- Click Next.

Services section
Note:
-
- Guests can purchase products you link to a Bookable service during the reservation process.
- Guests can only purchase products you link to an Additional service on-premises.
- Services: Click to select the services in which you want this product to be available, for example, Stay. Note: If you do not select a service, Mews assigns the product to the selected properties but not to any specific services.
- Configurations: Click to alternate between selected services.
- Charging*: Click to select how Mews charges the product. These options depend on the service type and its bookable period.
- Timing*: Click to select when Mews charges the product. This field is always conditional to the charging option you select.

For All bookable services:
- Charging: Select Once for one-time consumption items, for example, early check-in fee, or Per person for products like extra towels.
- Timing: Choose whether to charge at the Reservation Start or Reservation End. For example, an "Early check-in" fee can be charged at the Reservation Start.
- Note: You cannot map products that you set to charge only Once or Per person to a channel manager rate.

For Bookable night services:
- Charging: Select Nightly or Per person (nightly) to list the product as consumed "Daily" on the guest's bill.
- Timing: Choose whether to charge the product After midnight or Before midnight. For example, “Breakfast” can be charged Per person after midnight.

For Bookable day services:
- Charging: Select Daily or Per person (daily) to post products consumed "Daily" in the guests' bill, such as a “Parking day pass" or “Spa day pass”.
- Timing: No conditional options. The system deactivates this field.

For Bookable hour services:
- Charging: Select Hourly or Per person (hour) for products with hourly consumption, such as a meeting room booking or a massage.
- Timing: No conditional options. The system deactivates this field.

For Bookable month services:
- Charging: Select Monthly or Per person (monthly) for products with monthly consumption, such as a co-working membership or a gym membership.
- Timing: No conditional options. The system deactivates this field.

For Additional services:
This is useful for products sold at the lobby store or in the cafeteria.
- Charging: The system sets this field to Once by default.
- Timing: No conditional options are available. The system deactivates this field.

- Product options: Click to select:
- Bill as package: To group stay and service products into a single package on the customer’s bill. Appears as one line item but is expandable in internal reporting.
- Create a task when added by a customer through online check-in: To automatically creates a task when a customer adds this product through the "Make your stay remarkable" section during online check-in.
- Exclude price from offer: To add the product price to the reservation total only after the guest consumes the product.
- Offer to customer: To display the product in the Mews Booking Engine for guests to select. Note: If you select Offer to customer or Offer to employee for a product marked as Selected by default, the system shows the product as pre-selected, but the customer or employee can remove it during the reservation process.
- Offer to employee: To allow employees to add the product to a guest’s bill. Note: If you select Offer to customer or Offer to employee for a product marked as Selected by default, the system shows the product as pre-selected, but the customer or employee can remove it during the reservation process.
- Selected by default: To automatically add this product to all reservations.
- Proportional charging of partial months: Bill guests proportionally based on the length of their stay. Note: This option is available only for products attached to monthly services and charged as Monthly or Per person (monthly). Once you activate it, Mews automatically applies prorated pricing to new reservations. Existing reservations are unaffected unless you manually adjust reservation details, such as the start or end date. In such cases, the system applies a new prorated price.
- Promotions: Click to select when the system offers the product to guests.
- Price adjustment: Click to select the type of price adjustment for your selected service. Note: If you select multiple properties, you can apply different price adjustments for each property or apply the same adjustment to all, for example, fixed price adjustments for one and percentage adjustments for another.
- Fixed price
- Properties: Click to select the properties you want to apply the price adjustment to.
- Net: Enter the new property-specific price. Note: When you enter a Net price, Mews automatically updates the Gross price by taking your configured Tax rate into account.
- Gross: Enter the new property-specific price. Note: When you enter a Gross price, Mews automatically updates the Net price by taking your configured Tax rate into account.
- Percentage
- Properties: Click to select the properties you want to apply the price adjustment to.
- Percentage: Enter a positive or negative percentage. The system adds or deducts this percentage from the cost of the product.
- Apply to: Click to select if the system applies the percentage to the Net value, Tax value or Gross value of the product.
- Fixed price

- Click Save. The system displays a confirmation message on configuration.
This configures the central product with the settings and properties you select.
You can view the updated product details by clicking on the central product name in the Internal name column, and navigating to the Properties tab:
