DIRS21 for Mews Operations

DIRS21 is a reservations and channel management system, you can use to choose when, where and how you offer your spaces. You can learn more about DIRS21 here

Some things to know before you set up DIRS21 for Mews Operations: 

  • If you're already live with Mews, Mews does not configure the entire channel manager integrations for you. If you have any problems fixing the mapping errors within Mews, contact the Mews support team to help you troubleshoot.

  • If you already have a contract with DIRS21, click Connect integration

  • Make sure that you are already using DIRS21 Cockpit to use this direct connection as the integration does not support the connection with DIRS21 Office.  

  • This channel is a two-way connection; meaning that Mews manages availability, rates and restrictions. The integration pushes reservations from DIRS21 into Mews. 

 

In this article you can learn how to set up the DIRS21 integration in Mews Operations: 

 

Step 1: Connect DIRS21 

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu Inserting image... > Marketplace
  2. Under Categories, click Distribution
  3. Find the DIRS21 integration and click Explore
  4. Click Connect integration. 
  5. In your list of integrations, locate DIRS21 and click Edit to go to the settings page. 
  6. In the Channel manager code field, enter the code you receive from DIRS21. 

 

Note: DIRS21 only works with mapping codes generated in DIRS21. 

 

Step 2: Update mapped space categories 

When you connect the DIRS21 integration, Mews does not automatically map all your space categories, so you need to do it manually.  

 

To manually map space categories:

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu Inserting image... > Marketplace > My subscriptions
  2. Locate the DIRS21 integration and click Edit to go to the settings page. 
  3. Click Channel manager categories
  4. Click +
  5. In the Space category code field, enter the unique numeric code for this space category, for example, "12345". Note: This is called the room id in DIRS21. Make sure to use only numbers and not to include spaces or special characters. 
  6. Under Category, select the space category you want to send to DIRS21. 
  7. Select the Synchronized checkbox to send availability updates to the channel manager. Note: If a space category is unsynchronized, Mews doesn't send any updates. 
  8. Click Create

Repeat steps 4-8 for every space category that you want to map. 

 

Step 3: Update mapped rates 

When you connect the DIRS21 integration, Mews does not automatically map rates, so you need to do this manually.  

  • If a rate is mapped and synchronized, Mews sends the price and restrictions updates for it. 

  • If you want to assign reservations to rates but manage prices and restrictions from the channel manager, keep your rates mapped and unsynchronized. 

  • If you want to remove some rates entirely so that reservations cannot be assigned to them, you can do so. 

 

To manually map rates:

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu Inserting image... > Marketplace > My subscriptions
  2. Locate the DIRS21 integration and click Edit to go to the settings page. 
  3. Click Channel manager rates
  4. Find the rate you want and click on the Rate code
  5. Click +
  6. In the Rate code field, enter the unique numeric code for this rate, for example, "012345". Note: This is called the rate id in DIRS21. Make sure to use only numbers and not to include spaces or special characters. 
  7. Under Rate, select the rate you want to send to DIRS21. 
  8. Locate the Synchronized checkbox and decide the updates you want to send to the channel manager. 
  • Synchronized rates send pricing and restriction updates to the channel manager. 
  • Unsynchronized rates don’t send pricing or restriction updates to the channel manager but can still receive reservations. 

If you want to manage rate pricing in DIRS21 rather than Mews Operations, make sure the rate is unsynchronized. 

  1. Click Create

 

 

Step 4: Connect space categories to rates

  1. In Mews Operations, got to the main menu Inserting image... > Marketplace > My subscriptions
  2. Locate the DIRS21 integration and click Edit to go to the settings page. 
  3. Click Channel manager rates
  4. Locate the rate you want and click on the Rate code
  5. Connect the rate to one or more space categories: 
  • Click +, and then click + Channel manager category to connect only specific space categories. For example, if it's a promotional rate. 
  • Click to connect all mapped space categories to the rate. 

 

Step 5: Mapping products 

Package products to ensure that you add them to your channel manager reservations. 

  • If you charge the product per night or per person per night, you can package it with a rate. 

Note: You can find the Product codes for the packages in the add-on settings in DIRS21. 

To map the product: 

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu Inserting image... > Marketplace > My subscriptions
  2. Locate the DIRS21 integration and click Edit to go to the settings page. 
  3. Click on + to map a product. 
  4. In the Product code section, enter the unique code you receive from DIRS21. 
  5. Click Save

Repeat steps 3-5 for every product that you want to send to DIRS21. 

 

To connect the product to a mapped rate: 

  1. In Mews Operations, got to the main menu Inserting image... > Marketplace > My subscriptions
  2. Locate the DIRS21 integration and click Edit to go to the settings page. 
  3. Click Channel manager rates
  4. Locate the rate you want to package a product with and click on the Product code
  5. Click +, and then click + Channel manager product. 
  6. Under Product, select the product you want. 
  7. Click Create

Repeat steps 6-12 for every product that you want to be available via DIRS21. Repeat these steps with the same rate to package it with multiple products. 

 

If the product is charged once or per person 

You cannot map these products. Instead, you need to create a product rule

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu Inserting image... > Settings > Services
  2. Select a Bookable service. Under Settings, click Product rules. 
  3. Click the + button. 
  4. Under Action, select Add. 
  5. Under Product, choose the product that you want added to a reservation. 
  6. Choose the condition that must be met for the system to add the product to the reservation. For example, if you want the system to add the product for a reservation with a specific rate. 
  • Under Rate condition, select Equals
  • Under Rate, select the rate you want to package the product with. 
  • Under Origin condition, select Equals
  • Under Origin, select Channel manager. 

 

Step 6: Map travel agencies 

For each travel agency, you need to create a profile/ contract and set up mapping. Then, Mews Operations can automatically detect and handle any new reservations from that agency. 

With DIRS21, Mews recommends that you only map the most specific reservation sources. You can learn more about travel agency mapping here

 

 

Step 7: Test the integration 

This test fails: 

  • If there are any errors with your mapping setup in DIRS21, or 

  • If you don't finish this step. 

To resolve any mapping issues in DIRS21, contact DIRS21 support via [email protected]

 

To test the integration: 

  1. In Mews Operations go to the main menu Inserting image...> Marketplace > My subscriptions
  2. Locate the DIRS21 integration and click Edit to go to the settings page. 
  3. Under Enabled operations, select Upload availability, Upload rates, and Upload restrictions
  4. Click Save
  5. In the Options section: 
  • Under Action, select Push inventory
  • Under From, select today's date. 
  • Under To, select 1 week from today. 
  1. Click OK and refresh the page.

  • If you have mapping errors, your selections under Enabled operations are no longer selected, and Mews sends a detailed list of the errors to the address you enter in the Notification email field. Fix the errors and repeat steps 2-6. 
  • If the inventory update is successful, Mews sends an email to the address you enter in the Notification email field. 
  1. When you have no mapping errors, log in to your DIRS21 account and compare the availability, rates, and restrictions to those in Mews Operations. 

  • If they don't match, make sure you didn't add availability limits, commissions, taxes, or markups in DIRS21. If you need help with this step, contact DIRS21 support via [email protected]

 

Step 8: Enable the integration

  1. In Mews Operations go to the main menu Inserting image...> Marketplace > My subscriptions
  2. Locate the DIRS21 integration and click Edit to go to the settings page. 
  3. Select the Enabled checkbox. 
  4. In the Enabled operations section, make sure to select Upload availability, Upload rates, Upload restrictions, and Receive reservations
  5. Click Save
  6. In the Options section at the bottom: 
  • Under Action, select Push inventory
  • Under From, select today's date. 
  • Under To, select 365 days from today. 
  1. Click OK
