How to boost revenue and speed up service by setting up Digital in Mews POS

Order & pay is part of the paid digital ordering add on feature Mews POS that your guests can use to Order and pay for food and drinks directly from their mobile device. You set it up in the Mews POS web dashboard in your food and beverage outlets, such as restaurants, lounges, and bars, to increase the average spend per guest and reduce service delays. This feature helps you streamline your ordering process, free up staff time, and turn tables quicker.

Step 1: Boost revenue by configuring your digital menu in the webshop online profile

Set up the digital menu to help guests browse your offering and order more on their own. When you enable digital ordering in the webshop, Mews POS automatically displays your products in a mobile-friendly menu.

Follow the steps in How to configure the webshop online profile in Mews POS to:

  1. Set the webshop to Active so guests can access it: This lets guests place their own orders, which reduces wait times and keeps service moving during busy periods.

  2. Add a shop name, tagline, and welcome message to reflect your brand: This builds trust and creates a professional experience that encourages guests to start ordering.

  3. Choose the language for the digital menu: This makes the menu easier to understand and more accessible for international guests.

  4. Check that all sellable products appear and group correctly by category: This helps guests find what they need quickly and increases the chance of additional purchases.

  5. Add product descriptions and variants: This gives guests the information they need to order confidently.

  6. Set up promo codes or offers: This motivates guests to spend more in a single order and helps you promote seasonal or high-margin items.

Note: When you create or edit products in Mews POS, the webshop updates automatically. You do not need to duplicate product setup.

Step 2: Speed up table service by downloading and placing table-specific QR codes

Place QR codes on tables so guests can scan and start ordering immediately. Mews POS links each QR code to a specific table and creates a new order for every scan. This reduces pressure on staff and speeds up service.

Follow the steps in How to download QR codes for your tables in Mews POS to:

  1. Go to your outlet layout and confirm that each table has a short URL: This ensures the system links each order to the correct table for service and tracking.

  2. Download the QR code PDF: This generates ready-to-print QR codes for every table with no extra tools.

  3. Print and place QR codes on tables in a visible and accessible location: This lets guests start browsing and ordering without waiting for staff.

Note: Guests at the same table can order at the same time. Mews POS combines their orders into one view for staff to review and approve.

Step 3: Reduce ordering delays by understanding the guest flow in the Order & pay menu

After scanning a QR code, guests see your webshop and place an order linked to their table. They choose items, add notes or promo codes, and pay either before or after staff confirm the order. Mews POS sends the order straight to the kitchen or bar.

You and your wait staff need to understand this flow so you can answer questions and manage orders efficiently.

Follow the steps in How to use the Order & pay menu in Mews POS to:

  1. See how guests select items and product variants: This helps you explain the process clearly and support guests who have questions.

  2. Learn how guests enter notes or apply promo codes: This ensures staff check for guest requests or discounts on each order.

  3. Understand how staff confirm or reject items in Mews POS: This gives staff control over service speed and helps prevent errors.

  4. Check how guests pay from their own device if online payments are enabled: This removes the need for in-person payments and increases table turnover.

Note: Use this guide to train wait staff on the guest experience.
