How to close a cashier shift in Mews Operations

Front desk staff and night auditors use Mews Operations to open and close cashier shifts by setting and resetting balances at the start and end of a shift. This process ensures financial accountability, security, and accuracy in property operations. Before you can close a cashier shift, you need to create cashiers. At the end of a shift, you can remove takings and reset the cashier balance to prepare for the next shift. Once you close a shift, you cannot modify it. To do so, you need to open a new cashier.

To close a cashier shift in Mews Operations: 

 

  1. In Mews Operations,  
    • go to the main menu main menuFinance > Cashier, or 
    • Click Cashier on the Dashboard
  2. Click the name of the cashier you want to close. 
  3. Click Close shift.

  1. Count the cash in the cashier. It should match the balance shown in the shift overview. 
  2. Review and add a Base value correction if necessary. Type to enter the value in the relevant currency field. 

Note

  • You can enter a correction for each currency supported by the cashier. 
  • If you take out all the cash, enter “0.” 
  • If you leave all the cash in the cashier, leave the field blank. 
  1. Click Close shift. 

This closes the shift.
