Reviewing cashier shifts and transactions in Mews Operations

You can use the Cashier screen in Mews Operations to monitor and manage shift activity for each cashier at your property. This is useful for finance or front office teams who need to track cash flow, verify transactions, or resolve discrepancies. You can review open and past shifts, add or edit transactions, or close shifts with a recorded balance. 

Note: If you are an admin and cannot view cashier transactions, go to the main menu  > Settings > Property > Finance > Cashiers and assign yourself to each cashier. For instructions, refer to the help article How to create cashier in Mews Operations. 

 

To review cashier shifts and transactions in Mews Operations: 

1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu > Finance > Cashier. 
2. Click the name of the cashier you want to review. 
3. On the Shift overview tab, click the shift you want to review. Here you can: 
   • View the Shift overview, including currency, starting balance, incoming transactions, outgoing transactions and the final balance.   
   • View Transactions, including transaction number, customer, creation date, bills, notes and the amount. Note: You can click a transaction to view further details.  
   • Click Print to download or print a summary of the shift. 
   • Click Add transaction to add a new transaction. In the side-window, fill in the following details then click Save: 
     • Currency: Click to select  a currency. 
     • Type of transaction*: Click to select if the transaction is Receive or Paid. 
     • Value*: Enter the value of the transaction. 
     • Notes*: Enter notes about the transaction. 
4. Click the Past shifts tab to review past shifts. Here you can: 
   • Click View details to view shift details. 
   • View notes by hovering over the Notes in the Transaction section.  
5. Click Save. Note: If you try to close the modal with unsaved changes, Mews prompts you to confirm.
