How to override product details for a menu in Mews POS

You override product details for a menu in Mews POS to customize how a product appears without changing its original settings. You complete this task in the Mews POS web dashboard when editing a menu. As a staff member managing food and drink menus for a restaurant, bar, or outlet, you override details like the product name, description, or price to reflect seasonal changes, promotions, or different pricing in specific outlets. These changes only affect how the product appears on the selected menu.

  • Overrides only change how the product appears on this menu. They do not update the original product settings.
  • You cannot override the display of product bundles or product variants at this time.

To override product details on a menu,

  1. In the Mews POS web dashboard, click Menus.
  2. Select the menu you want to edit. The Create menu screen opens.
  3. Hover over the product you want to edit and click Edit.
  4. A side panel opens where you can override the following details for this specific menu:
    • Name: For example, Summer Meat Feast.
    • Description: Update the description of the item.
    • Price: Update the price of the item. Note: The tax display depends on your property’s tax settings.
  1. Click Save.

This overrides product details for a menu in Mews POS.

Next, you can enable or disable the menu in Mews POS.
