How to remove a payment card

You cannot completely remove or delete a payment card from the system, but you can disable or clear it.


To remove or disable a credit card, follow these steps:

 

  1. Go to either the Payments tab in the Customer profile or to the Payment report.
  2. Click on the three dots next to the payment card.
  3. If the payment card is enabled, you have the option to either disable or clear it:
  • Disable: Select to disable the card from charging in the future. The payment card status will show as Disabled. The cardholder won't be able to see their payment card in the guest journey. You will still be able to perform refunds on payments taken from this card. 
  • Clear: Select to clear card data including cardholder name, payment tokens, and any notes. Mews clears the personal information about the cardholder and the card won't be visible to the guest in the guest journey. Only the last four digits of the card number remain on the guest's profile, so your past reports and payment data are still available for reporting purposes. The payment card status will show as Disabled. You will be unable to perform refunds for payments taken on this card and will need to perform refunds externally.
