    Use cases

You can add more payment policies to existing rate groups or create new rate groups to differentiate your payment offering. Learn more about setting up payment automation here.

Scenario 1: Set up flexible payments

    • If your current rate group has automatic payment configured to 50% two days after the confirmation day.
    • You can add a new policy to automatically collect the rest of the payment, for example, 50% three days before the start date.

Mews recommends this for properties that spend time manually processing payments.

Scenario 2: Allow guests to pay in multiple instalments

You can configure the rate group to charge:

    • 20% of the amount, two days after confirmation.
    • 30% of the original amount, seven days before arrival.
    • 50% of the balance, the day before the start date.

In this scenario if the total balance is 200euro, the guest would pay:

    • 40euro, two days after confirmation.
    • 60euro, seven days before arrival.
    • 100euro, the day before the start date.

Mews recommends this for properties that want to attract new revenue streams and group bookings.

Scenario 3: Charge or pre-authorize a flat fee

    • If you want to charge or pre-authorize a flat fee unrelated to the total amount of the reservation.
    • You can add a new payment policy for the flat amount.

    For example:

    • Charge 20% of the amount upon confirmation.
    • Pre-authorize 200euro on the start date.
    • Charge 80% of the amount on the start date.

Mews recommends this for properties that want to assign flat fees to a particular product, service, or incidentals.

    Future developments

Automatically pre-authorize and capture the same payment with different triggers

      For example:

    • Charge 20% of the amount upon confirmation.
    • Pre-authorize 80% of the amount ten days before the start date.
    • Charge the previously pre-authorized 80% of the amount one day before the start date.

You can contact Mews for questions on other use cases.
