Pin the Mews Kiosk app on Android devices

It is useful to pin an app to your device, particularly when your customers use it daily, such as the Mews Kiosk app. To ‘pin an app’ on an Android device means to always keep a single app on screen. This ensures that guests do not accidentally exit out of the app or access other apps on your device, or browse the internet.

How to set up to pin the Kiosk app 

In your Android device:

  1. Go to the Settings > Security or Security and Location. 
  2. Click Advanced or Other security settings. 
  3. Go to App pinning or Pin windows. 
  4. Turn on App pinning. 
  5. Make sure to turn on Ask for PIN before unpinning.

How to prevent the app from being unpinned 

Before you pin the Mews Kiosk app to your device, it is important to set up certain security measures so that other users do not unpin it accidentally. To do so in your Android device: 

  1. Go to the Settings > Security > Screen Security. 
  2. Click Screen Lock. 
  3. Select the type of screen lock you would prefer from the list. 

 

Pin the Kiosk app 

To pin the app, in your Android device: 

  1. Go to Recents. 
  2. Select the Kiosk app icon by tapping or long-pressing depending on your device. 
  3. Select Pin app. 

 

To unpin the app 

If you wish to unpin the Mews Kiosk app for any reason: 

  1. Select and hold the recent and back buttons. 
  2. Enter your passcode or the screen lock alternative you chose above. This unpins the app.
