Bill previews and proforma invoices are not official legal documents. They are temporary documents that include a confirmation of products ordered and can be easily modified.
To meet the strict NF525 certification standards:
- Mews does not display VAT on bill previews and proformas in France.
- Properties located in France need to enter a reason anytime they reprint the bill preview. Mews also displays this field in the financial reports.
Since 2018, the French law requires properties to hide VAT on any temporary documents. The goal is to prevent tax fraud.
You can only display VAT after the payment has been made. You can learn more about these requirements in Article 88 of the Finance Law (France).
If a guest needs a document that includes VAT, the property should issue an invoice.
